Great treat; Horrible packaging

I have bought these long lasting chew treats for years for my 2 dogs and they both absolutely love them! I started buying one every time I went the grocery store but then began buying them on auto ship through Chewy. My dogs are aggressive chewers and these do the trick and keep them busy for a long time. However, I have not bothered to give them out to my dogs the last few months due to the packaging. These chew toys are nearly impossible to open! It takes both my kitchen scissors and a knife to cut through the plastic and after my struggle today getting the packaging open, I have decided it is not worth it. I won't buy these again.

Bought a couple of these for a trip this weekend. Late at night in hotel late dog got restless and barking. Got one out to give him and he starts barking. Don’t travel with a chain saw and could not open it with anything we had. Eventually poked through plastic but you MUST remove all plastic to get it out. Took probably 10 minutes and broke knitting needles to try to get it out. Plastic does not tear, no perforation or tab to open. Dog barking whole time at midnight. If I had hand use issues I would be out of luck Horrible

How is this safe? How are they going to chew up the chewy without eating the plastic?

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. As pet parents, the safety and well-being of your pet is of utmost importance to us. Based on your pup's chew habits, it appears that the Dental Duo would not be the best chew toy for them. I bought this chew toy for my dog and gave it to him this morning. Not even five minutes later he had chewed through the hard plastic and swallowed some. It ended up with sharp edges which could lead to cut gums and mouth. I spent money on something I had to throw away after 5 minutes of use. I'm not happy. There needs to be a safer alternative for our fur babies. I should've read the reviews BEFORE purchasing, but unfortunately I did not. Maybe you all should skim through the reviews out there and make some much needed changes to this product.

I bought this toy for my Golden lab and she enjoyed it right away. However, within an hour of purchase I noticed the plastic part ripped to shreds and was worried about if it was toxic and or a chocking hazard. I tried to check the FAQ for an answer but came up empty handed. Is there perhaps something I missed?

i have bought these for years for my little dogs (shih tzus) and they have gotten hours of fun wrestling with them to get the insides out! But recently i bought a two pack and the bacon insides fell right out whole! i don't know if it is a manufacturer problem but they have tiny teeth and mouths and that has never happened before and i have bought these many times prior. i had to throw it out as i wasn't sure it would get swallowed whole and i didn't want the dogs to choke. So overall really really good product just a little disappointed with the latest purchase!

I don't usually respond negatively...but I will never buy this product again, or any of your products that are sealed in this ridiculous plastic! Do you think some one might steal this!? Absolutely unnecessary and wasteful. 7

I gave it to my 1.5 year old medium to large sized dog. In ten minutes, my dog was destroying the plastic. How can you expect a dog to not chew on the plastic and swallow some of the pieces.

I bought three medium size Chew’n Clean dental Duos for a 10 lb puppy and a 20 lb. Adult dog. They have eaten the plastic and can’t get the middle part out. Who knows what is sprayed on the bone to keep the edible part secure or what my puppies had digested eating the plastic. How irresponsible for Hartz to sell this product.

My Lab/AmStaff mix loved this chew bone. She was chewing away. I always watch her with a new toy and I noticed she was focused on one end & had almost obliterated it. Then, she looked up at me & I saw blood on the plastic. I immediately took it & threw it away. My poor pup! Do not recommend!!

I bought this for my 2½ year old 75-lb malamute shepherd. Within literally 20 minutes, she had chewed off a few chunks of hard plastic as well as some of the "edible center". Well the "edible center" is as hard as the plastic and would do serious damage if swallowed. NOT impressed at ALL as this is an extremely dangerous and terribly designed toy.
