Q: Does the Hatch Rest+ work if it's not connected to Wi-Fi? Like if we took it with us camping, would we even be able to use it? Same with hotels that may not have Wi-Fi available for sound machines.

A: WiFi is required for setup. With that being said, your saved bedtime content will continue to run on your Rest without a WiFi connection. But honestly you're better off getting a protable soundmachine

I’ve had sound issues with my hatch. They have great customer service and sent me a refurbished one for free however it came with the same exact issues + it turning off on its own - all of which disrupts my babies sleep! I wouldn’t recommend it and considering moving my hatch restore from my bedroom into the nursery

I LOVE our regular Hatch Rest+, so I was excited about getting the 2nd gen. Unfortunately, the battery life is not as good. With our Rest+, there were times when it lasted over 12 hours. The 2nd gen lasts 8 or less. Which is a bummer since that’s not long enough for a full night. I do like the app updates with the routines you can schedule. But I don’t like that they changed the sounds. So in our older daughters room the rain sounds one way, then in our younger daughters room it’s different. Thank goodness they aren’t too particular, but I know this could be an issue for other littles.

The absolute coolest part about this sound machine is that you can move it from base to base, or off the base entirely. I can’t tell you how many times we used it traveling and at home all while needing it in different rooms at different times depending. It was great to just pick it up and pop it somewhere else.

When our hatch machine initially came, it was plenty loud! After a few months it has become soooo quiet!! It doesn’t drown out any noise. It seems like as we have had to use the machine, it has progressively become quieter until it hardly drowns out noise. This is definitely not worth the money.

We love the sound quality of our hatch, but I wish it would have a smooth transition between sounds in a routine instead of a hard stop/start into the next sound. Also; it’s gotten annoying to use the app because you can see all of the sounds and features that are locked (unless you have plus) and it makes the app annoying to navigate. I miss the old sound/light adjuster where you could click up/down one by one, the sliding is more finicky.

The hatch has been such a blessing in my kids’ lives. From being able to pick out their own sleep sounds and colors to having a long enough battery life to take on camping trips- I only have wonderful things to say about this product! I recommend this to everyone I know!

We haven’t played with all the features yet, but we’ve been using Hatch for 2 years as a light/sound machine. I love the red light option and the wind noises! I will say though, the buttons are frustrating because the unit isn’t heavy enough. When you try to adjust the light or something with one hand it just scoots away. So you either have to have it pushed up against something or you have to wrap your hand around it the push the button. Not a big deal, but incredibly annoying when you’re trying to juggle a baby. The 2nd gen is better than the last due to the stand, but could use a simple built in weight to completely solve this issue

Absolutely hate the app set up for the 2nd generation! It is so complicated compared to the 1st gen. Half the time it doesn’t follow the schedule I have set. It’s awful! I used to recommend the Hatch to EVERY ONE… now I don’t. It’s sad because it used to be my one item I would give for expecting parents… not anymore. I had to give the 2nd generation to my baby instead of my toddler because I don’t use colors with my baby yet. I’m dreading that time that I do because I’ll have to use the awful app.

My baby has slept with his hatch since the day he was born 2. 5 years ago! It’s literally everything and it drowns out any sound that could wake him up. Hatch also replaced his original hatch when I started having connectivity issues at no cost! I am a customer for life!

To pay so much for a device that literally won't even hold a charge for an hour is crazy. The first night when we plugged it in it wat at 67 percent battery. We let out kiddo try it out with his nap put it to charge but noticed when we put him to bed the battery hadn't increased so we sent him to bed without his new sound machine which was rough but I was determined to get this thing working. I have now had it on the charger the last 2 days and it went up by 5 percent in battery. This make me so upset because it was such a big investment for me and my kids birthday present that he can't even use

I’ll preface this by saying I’ve had a 1st gen Rest+ for over 2.5 years with at least 14 hours of use per day (loud enough to achieve 55-60dB in the crib) and it’s still going strong. For starters, this new version is significantly quieter than the first generation. You’d have to put it right next to the crib to get adequate noise for sleep (which is not recommended). Then they changed all the sounds—I liked the ocean wave sound with the first gen because it had some variation but was still consistently loud. The new version has way too much difference in sound level so I had to settle for brown noise. And lastly, the reason I’m finally writing this review at 1am, THE WHOLE THING STOPPED WORKING. It hasn’t even been 5 months.
