Q: Do you have to pay a subscription to use the toddler lock feature?

submitted by jcrenee - 1 month ago
  • A: Great question! You do not need a Hatch+ subscription to use the toddler lock feature.

submitted byHatchTeam - 1 month ago
  • A: No, we don’t pay for the subscription and are able to use the lock feature.

    submitted byAlexis Z - 1 month ago

Q: What are the highest and lowest decibels the sounds make?

submitted by Jackie - 10 months ago
  • A: Great question! The decibel level is very dependent on the environment — factors like room size, placement, and surfaces play a big role in the equation.

submitted byHatchTeam - 4 months ago

Q: will this do a sunrise alarm?

submitted by beachgirl - 1 year ago
  • A: Restore and Restore 2 both feature a sunrise alarm that will gently wake you up with light, mimicking a natural dawn!

submitted byHatch - 1 year ago
  • A: No, but you can have the alarm set to be yellow like a sunrise.

submitted byZoozilla - 5 months ago

Q: Is there a reason this is geared to babies and kids? Is it good for adults too?

submitted by Nancy - 1 year ago
  • A: Rest/Rest+ 2nd gen’s features & content are designed with babies & kids in mind; that said, they do have pre-loaded sounds that may be helpful for adults. Our Hatch+ membership offers more sounds too.

submitted byHatch - 1 year ago
  • A: Yeah, I like mine. If you get up at night to go the bathroom the light feature is helpful so you don’t fall.

submitted byZoozilla - 5 months ago

Q: Is this product FSA eligible?

submitted by Kmac - 2 months ago
  • A: Great question! FSA reimbursement depends on your specific plan. We recommend checking with your FSA administrator to confirm if Rest 2nd gen is eligible for coverage.

submitted byHatchTeam - 1 month ago

Q: Can you have 2 units (one for each kid) and control both with one app?

submitted by Rachel - 3 months ago
  • A: Great question! Yes you can control each device on a single Hatch Sleep app.

submitted byHatchTeam - 2 months ago

Q: I couldn't get the 2nd gen to connect to my internet. I have the 1st gen and it works fine. Is there something different with this one?

submitted by Ashe - 4 months ago
  • A: Rest 2nd gen connects via WiFi, while Rest 1st gen uses bluetooth. When you have a moment, please send us a message at review@hatch.co and make sure to include code [HB25BZRE7]. We would love to help!

submitted byHatchTeam - 1 month ago

Q: Will my hatch still work if the power goes out?

submitted byHatchTeam - 4 months ago

Q: Can you play music or stories without a subscription?

submitted by SarahAnn - 6 months ago

I’m so done…the second generation has been completely over engineered and it’s not even functional. The sound isn’t even loud enough…on a SOUND machine. Yet there is like 500 other things the app is trying to get me to do. Please stop the madness Hatch…don’t mess with tired mothers.

    Great Night Light!

    4 out of 5 stars

I gave it 4 stars because the device requires wifi connection. Our household runs from a hot spot that doesn’t have great connection. Hopefully in the future it can be a Bluetooth connection! It works great with the features I can use currently. It helps when the baby wakes at night for diaper changes and feedings. I’m not stumbling in the dark to find what I need. It also has a brightness adjuster so I don’t blind the baby when it is on!

We’ve tried 3 machines, multiple power cords and tech help calls. None of the machines have lasted longer than a few months - we have scrapped them all and deleted the app. Support and service was okay, but these machines miraculously stop working *right* after they are unsupported and out of warranty.

We have 4 of them! And travel with it! Love it. We use the story content and breathing to calm the kiddos before bedtime every night, and it's simply part of the routine I truly wish there were more content for all ages. So much for super little kids or young elementary. But my 10 year old still benefits from breathing to come down and loooved the Rebel Girls stories. Really could use a ton more of that content, and honestly continuing through all the teen years. Hope it gets added!

    First generation was better

    2 out of 5 stars

Disappointed in the second generation hatch when comparing it to the first generation. Second generation has a significant lag time when turning it on using the metal ring on top (approximately 3 to 5 seconds). The app updated to have a sliding bar to change volume instead of buttons which makes it difficult to slowly adjust volume. Second generation also doesn’t have a power reserve. So if it gets unplugged it turns off.

Disappointed, I have the older version and it’s much better

    2 out of 5 stars
    Katie G. - 6 days ago

I made the mistake of not reading all the details and specifications closely on this one. I have the rest + from 2021 so I figured the 2nd generation would be better and more improved, unfortunately that is not the case. Some of the key features I value in the older version are the backup battery and the ability to also use it as a monitor/ audio speaker. If we have a power outage or wifi goes out, so does the sound machine and that can really mess up babies sleep, especially if it restarts and just defaults to the first “ring” setting, which for us is a lullaby sound and that has really startled baby in the middle of the night during a short power outage. Also the app is much more complicated and not user friendly in the newer version. The “routines” feature doesn’t easily allow for you to have a “ring” setting to tap and turn it off so I have to turn it off from the app every day. I don’t like that it requires to be plugged in at all times especially since if I just want to move it to the next room over I have to reset the whole thing when I unplug it. The only improvement I saw was that the exterior buttons were much more intuitive and easy to figure out in the dark, it’s an up and down button for volume or light as opposed to the older version which was side by side and I usually had to just guess when I couldn’t see which button was which. I had high hoped for this because we love the older version. Unfortunately I think I’m going to sell this one and go buy an older model. Overall it still accomplishes the goal of showing my toddler a red light/ sound machine when it’s sleep time and green light/ wake up sounds when it’s time to get out of bed. So for that it still gets the job done but I really miss the older features.

We loved our first Hatch product and its very simple interface. When we got a second one for another bedroom, we were dismayed that the app interface is different and far more complex than necessary. I would not recommend the Rest 2nd Gen model. Hatch, consider going back to the simpler interface. Parents are too tired for so many elaborate options.

I wanted a light that mimics the sunrising. This light barely makes a difference. Maybe we should have gotten the other version. It's hard to set to just wake up, I don't need a stay asleep feature, I'm not even sure what that means. The noise going off wakes us up more than the light. Just not what I expected.

The app needs to be more user friendly. I like setting schedules but I need to have a clear, fast, and easy option for when I want to do something different in the moment. Also, I wish there was an option to keep sounds/lights continuous when changing a routine while it is in play.
