Hunt A Killer Lakeside Slaughter Board Game

Big fan of HaK boxes overall but this one has serious problems. Won't get into details because spoilers but narratively bad and mostly unnecessary gameplay. No idea what all the super positive promotional reviews are about but buyer beware. Pick another option.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was my first specifically “hunt a killer” mystery game. My husband and I played together and I’d say it took us a couple hours. However, I think since we got it so early the online clues were not live yet so it definitely took us longer than it should have. We were on the right trail though. We’re avid true crime listeners and picked up on the things that were suspicious immediately but we could have confirmed them more quickly with the online clues. I’d love to try a more challenging one now.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My friends and I had a wine night and played this murder mystery game together and it was a ton of fun! The game was much more interactive than I was expecting, there were lots of things to read but also little props and such to unlock and inspect as evidence. There was even a website that you get directed to that has “security camera footage” for you to use in your investigation (I have some screenshots posted as examples). The main reason I knocked a star off is because I do think it’s a shame that these types of games can only be played once, but it could make for a fun regift or donation!

I haven't played it yet, but I love that Target offers these HAK games and makes it easy to buy them! I probably wouldn't have gotten to try them otherwise!

There were a lot of elements to the game, so it took us longer than the estimated time on the box. Still a great way to spend an evening with loved ones though!

I really enjoyed having the different pieces of physical evidence. It made the experience feel more real and you can really immerse yourself into the story. We were able to divide pieces up and solve the various puzzles. The writing for each of the characters was also fantastic. Would highly recommend. We’re actually looking at buying more.

Realistic storyline with perfect amount of difficulty

They like a challenge. It was well designed, and puzzles were put together well. We enjoyed it, but I just wish it was more challenging.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just to begin it took two and half hours with three people. I gave it three stars because to many misleading clues and hard to find actual clues. If you don't have internet access you really won't be able to solve it. Some clues are online. I think it was cool you can really call the phone numbers in the game in real life. I liked the mechanisms like the internet, calling in real and dysyfering coded messages. In the beginning you really get your mind spinning and think you know but then you have it all wrong. Haha. Just pay close attention to every word and pictures...hint hint Maybe this is an advanced version. Maybe I need an easier one..haha
