About the Book

This beautifully illustrated Scarry classic, with a gentle story of a bunny's experiences through the seasons, is now available in this board book format. Full color.

Book Synopsis

Cuddle up with Nicholas the bunny through the seasons in Richard Scarry's beloved classic.

I am a bunny. My name is Nicholas. I live in a hollow tree.

In the spring, Nicholas picks flowers and chases butterflies, and in the summer, watches the frogs in the pond. In the autumn, he sees the animals preparing for the winter. When winter comes, Nicholas watches the snow falling from the sky, then curls up in his hollow tree and dreams about spring. In print for well over 50 years, this beautifully illustrated, gentle story has been a favorite Golden Book for generations.

About The Author

OLE RISOM (1920-2000) was one of the most influential publishers of mass-market books for children. He was vice president and art director of Golden Books at Western Publishing Company from 1952-1972, and then vice president and associate publisher of the juvenile division of Random House from 1972-1990. He worked closely with his good friend Richard Scarry over the years at both houses. He also worked with Dr. Seuss, Jim Henson, Stan and Jan Berenstain, Leo Lionni, Laurent de Brunhoff, Charles M. Schulz, and Marc Brown.

RICHARD SCARRY (1919-1994) is one of the world's best-loved children's book authors ever! No other illustrator has shown such a lively interest in the words and concepts of early childhood. After a stint in the army, Scarry showed his portfolio to one of the original editors at Golden Books in 1948. There he found the perfect home for his children's books. In the extraordinary career that followed, Scarry illustrated well over 100 books, many of which have never been out of print.

Love love love this book. Gorgeous illustrations, simple story. Teaches about seasons but really, at the risk of sounding sappy, it teaches about simple, quiet appreciation for nature and respect for animals as living creatures. This has been a huge hit in my house since my first was born (vibrant illustrations are enough to capture a baby’s attention but not necessarily over stimulate) and is still read a few times a wk now that they’re 2 and 4 1/2.

Board books are definitely the route to go with infants because they are highly indestructible. This board book is absolutely beautiful. I YouTube all books before buying them to make sure I am a fan, and that they teach the things I find important to my child as he grows. I LOVE the vintage aspect of this simple, sweet book which teaches all the seasons to baby and why each is different and beautiful. The illustrations are so vibrant and my son notices this too. My only problem was that I ordered the same book TWICE and it came damaged in exactly the same way both times. I won't take a star away from my rating because this isn't a flaw with the book (some people don't differentiate the two), but instead it is a flaw with Target's shipping/packaging department. I did however get refunded, but that isn't the point...it was a hassle to have this problem and try to get it resolved TWICE, and it was supposed to be a very special Easter gift for my son's first Easter. I remember having a problem with another book I ordered from Target being damaged, so I hope this isn't going to be a regular occurrence.

I think my 1 3/4 yr. grandson and 4 1/2 grandaughter will both love this book. And it appears solidly built and not flimsy.
