Q: How do you use these?

submitted by L - 1 year ago
  • A: Place the jump rope handles in each hand and rotate the handles like a regular jump rope. The weighted balls will act as a rope, while you jump with each rotation.

Good jump rope alternative

I bought this because I wanted to start jump roping for exercise but I always end up whacking myself with the rope. It works well and does feel like you’re using a jump rope. It’s also good quality. I do feel a little silly using it as you’re basically just buying handles to hold while you jump up and down lol

I bought this on a whim because I needed to increase my cardio and wanted an option to work out at home instead of the gym all the time. But I don’t have a lot of space. Real jump ropes require space and also make noise. This however solved both of those problems. It was so easy to use and I was surprised at how much it felt like a real jump rope, just without the hassle of getting whacked by the rope and having to stop in the middle of your session to get your rhythm back. Right out of the box, I was able to use this in my tiny bedroom and feel like I was still gaining all the health benefits of jump rope without having to worry about a space constraint.

I'm super surprised at how much I like this. I got it so I could jump rope in my very low ceiling basement, and it does the job. My only issue is they are too lightweight for me, but there is an unscrewable top and maybe if you can find those little cylinder weights it would fit in there (but I don't own any).

I like being able to jump anywhere, without regard to needing lots of space. Makes me feel like a jump rope champion.

On its face, this may seem gimmicky. However, I found this ropeless jump rope has a strong use case. Great for practicing technique (aka shadow skipping). The weighted ends provide enough resistance to be a step above using body weight alone. I like to use this for short HIIT bursts during the workday and not having to worry about the space/sound considerations of a full rope makes this a very convenient and efficient tool.
