A story book with detailed coloring

This is a story with detailed coloring. There is a lot of white space. It is a lovely read and a joy to color. If you are an adult colorist, not looking to read as well, this is not for you. However, if you are interested in a departure from strictly coloring, hoping the pictures can have meaning so your inner-artist can have vision, this would be a good pick. Thick vanilla pages that are good for gel pens, water-color mediums, and blending with mineral spirits. Good mother-daughter adventure.

Wow! I have all the books Johanna has made so far but this was my last one to complete my collection... until she makes a new one :-) IDK why I waited on this one. I wasn’t sure I’d like it because it is different than her usual stuff. BUT this is really the best one! In one of her FB live videos she was chatting about this book and how she was finishing it while being pregnant with her 2nd baby and then finalizing it while her 8 day old Baby snoozed under her desk. Precious! Then she told us about her oldest coming into her studio and doodling on one of her pages while she was busy with the baby. And she kept the doodle in the book it’s a random little tree monster that’s adorable. Johanna’s vision for this book was for all the moms in this world dealing with so much chaos to be able to wind down and color but still have a purpose and an heirloom even! This coloring book is a beautiful children’s book! I’m excited to read it to my kids and for them to see my coloring progress every time we read it. This book has a free audiobook reading by Johanna on her website too! I can listen while I color, my kids can listen, we can all listen and look at the pictures together. What a wonderful gift to all mothers! I am imagining reading this to my grandchildren! It’s a true collaborative effort between me and my favorite artist Johanna Basford! Go to her website guys she has so many free downloads to color too, it’s fantastic!
