As I am a big fan of Johanna Basford's books I was excited to see a new one and anxiously awaited the arrival of my preorder. Wow, what a disappointment. The paper is awful; it's thin, way too smooth, has no tooth to hold colored pencils and pens bleed through. You can see the ink of the images from the backside of the page coming through like shadows on the front side. The ink is awful; it smears, light colored pencils pull the ink into the pencil color, and forget about using blending tools or solution. There are ink transfers between pages, black lines that are not part of the images that run the entire width of the page on 10+ pages. The binding is tight and glued so the book will not lay flat. If you try to lay it flat the glue holds and the paper rips at the seam distroying the image. I don't mind a few repetitions in the images but this book is full of repeated images. Johanna's books were the gold standard for others to be held to. It's sad that is not the caes any longer.
