Q: Does it require the Portable Power Station in order to work, or can it run / charge a cell phone by it self?

A: In my experience, in perfect sun and fully opened I have only achieved up to 10 watts.

At the price point of this panel, you can get a 100 - 120 watt panel. There are also a few other limitations. The panel comes with a cable that allows you to plug in a USB A and USB C cable, the only issue is that the max output is less than 15 watts (even if the panel is producing the full 40). The other big issue is that the plug is almost proprietary - it won't fit other power stations without adapters or cutting the cord. I ended up returning it.
