JanSport Cool Student 17.5" Backpack

I bought this backpack for my daughter who always and I mean always seems to break her bag or do something to it I got recommended this bag and it has already started ripping might try North face next

I got this backpack for my daughter 2.5 years ago... and I vaguely remember being disappointed in the quality when it arrived (to the point that I did NOT buy my son a Jansport when he needed a new one). A while ago, the whole inside divider ripped, and I checked the warranty: realizing that it was likely not covered, I repaired it myself. While repairing it, I realized that MOST of the internal seams were not reinforced. There were shaggy polyester threads that had pulled off EVERYWHERE. Only 3 seams in the entire backpack had a protective casing around them: all other seams were just sewn together: edges of fabric not sealed or finished off at all. Perhaps, since this is 100% synthetic material, they used a hot-knife when cutting it, but after 2 years of school use (not including summers) where they aren't allowed to use backpacks between classes (AKA: just to and from school), those edges were no longer stable. I understand that the faux leather is peeling: that's just a factor of the material, and I wasn't willing to spend the extra money on the "top of the line" one (I was barely willing to spend the money on this one)... but apparently, if you're dead set on Jansport: don't skimp, and go for the "deluxe" because the simple protective finishes that could have easily been put in place when making it (like, serging the edge, or using a binding strip) aren't used in the cheaper bags. So it's not only cheaper fabrics and materials, it's significantly less workmanship included. Today, the bag I bought vs the "top of the line" is only $10 difference... there is SIGNIFICANTLY more than $10 difference in material costs... which means that this bag is a total rip-off. I'm actually nervous to potentially replace this with a "deluxe" JanSport, because I don't actually know that the workmanship will be better in addition to better materials. JanSport: cool, use cheaper materials to provide a wider range of prices to accomodate a larger demographic, but don't be chincy and not even properly reinforce/finish the seams of your products!!

Absolutely love it! It’s perfect, several compartments for storage and my entire 15” inch laptop fits comfortably inside.

It's smaller than I anticipated but it's still a good backpack, larger than my last jansport & definitely could pack more stuff in it for my next upcoming hiking trip as compared to last year. The color is fairly nice, got the army green letterman or smth like that haha. Don't rlly like the material on the inside. Not a fan of the material on the underside of the bag either, still works for me.

WRONG BACKPACK WAS SENT. I ordered the one that’s shown in the picture but I got one that has blue, red and white fabric on the zippers!! Not what I wanted, please pay more attention to detail target employees!!!

This product is great I have gotten the misty rose but after 6 years I wanna change and I want to get the coconut , but it looks see through so is it also I love how spacious and aesthetic it looks but can somebody tell me if the coconut is see through

I am replacing this backpack after eight years of everyday use. Seriously, every single day. I used in all throughout college and now I bring it to work every day. I even use it when going on a short vacation instead of a suitcase. The backpack after eight years still works, and I'm still using it, but the synthetic leather at the bottom is ripping off. I obviously love this backpack. I am not a student but I will always rock this "Cool Student" backpack.

My daughter's middle school doesn't do lockers. We got this and it's able to fit all her books, her laptop, and her lunch box. There is still loads of room for other things.

Bought this for my daughter who is in high school. She loves the color and the size is perfect!

Only used for less than 3 months and the zipper has already broken. I expected more from a $60 backpack.

I wouldn't know. We bought a backpack. It broke. We replaced it and had to pay the shipping fee to and from Jansport. The new backpack strap broke within a week.

We ordered the Cool Student bag for school. After less than one month, the entire leather bottom material is peeling off. Defective, poor quality, looks awful. The rest of the bag is fine.

im on my second year of college and i needed a backpack suitable for carrying a LOOOT of things around, this is amazing 'cause it has a lot of pockets and storage capacity, the only issue i see it's the zipper tends to get stuck

This is a cheaply made product and Jansport return policy needs to be reassessed. The bottom of this backpack has completely peeled by the third week of school and Jansport wants me to send the backpack in for a warranty claim and they will not return it for a few weeks. What is my daughter supposed to use for her backpack in the meantime? A good company would replace the backpack and have you mail in the defective one upon receipt. There is no reason for me to do a warranty claim for something that is going to peel again due to bad quality , purchase another backpack while waiting for the warranty claim to go through, and then end up with two backpacks of the same terrible quality. This does not make any sense. Do not buy this product.

Bought this for my daughter, she is going to college and carries her books and laptop. She love how much space it has for all her things.

Great backpack! My daughter is so excited to use this for school this year!

I just bought it for my daughter for the new school year, and the strap broke in 2 days. Not recommended if kids need to carry heavy stuff every day.
