I wish JBL was a little more transparent on which speakers could connect to each other. I was hoping to connect the JBL authentics 300 to a Boombox 2 but they cannot connect to one another. Great speakers though

I purchased the JBL Authentics 300 speaker as a part of the Music Lover Pro Bundle with the Spinner turntable. Reviewing it alone, I think it’s an impressive addition to the streaming/portable audio market. From a design standpoint, this is a really sweet looking piece of gear. The retro design is so slick I don’t need to stuff it in a cabinet. Quite the opposite, in fact – I’m proud to have this out for the masses. It has a vintage look, with the Quadrex foam grille paying homage to classic JBL speakers from the 1970s. Its interface is simplistic, but for me that’s fine since most of what I need to do I do from the efficient JBL One app. It weighs in at 10.8 pounds, but that’s more a testament to its robust construction than anything else. It fits perfectly on a shelf or tabletop without feeling intrusive, yet its presence is commanding enough to start up a conversation. A+ from my standpoint. I’ve been a fan of JBL’s high-quality sound since the mid-80s, and the Authentics 300 did not disappoint me on that front, with immersive, room-filling sound that is surprisingly balanced. The bass is deep and rich, the mids are clear and natural, and the treble is crisp without being harsh. I can crank it up without distortion, which makes it perfect for parties or filling larger spaces. The clarity and depth of sound are impressive regardless of the type of music you listen to. The Authentics 300 supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Apple AirPlay 2 and Google Chromecast, making it easy to stream music from various platforms and devices. Connecting it to my Spinner BT turntable was a snap. Setting it up on my home wi-fi network was a straightforward process using the JBL One app. The integration with voice assistants like Alexa and Google Assistant is seamless. It also has an ethernet port, 3.5mm auxiliary jack, and USB port for playback (I read this is U.S. only). One of the nice things about the Authentics 300, as opposed to its smaller (200) and larger (500) siblings is the addition of portability – you don’t need to keep it plugged in in a single spot. Battery life is about 8 hours, which so far hasn’t been a problem for me. Overall, the JBL Authentics 300 speaker is a great choice if you’re looking for a high-quality, stylish audio solution. The combination of excellent sound performance, retro sleek design, and modern connectivity options makes it a standout product, in my opinion.

I got this speaker some time ago and just sitting listening to it this morning - this is,by far, the best , most crisp and clear speaker I've ever had. I said that about the last 2 Charges I had as well. 😉 this one surpasses them big time! They put a retro clean look to this one and the carry handle makes it a complete deal. Can't do better than a JBL. Not in any category!! Thanks JBL for making music sound even better!
Excellent out of the box!

JBL Authentics 300 is a beautiful speaker out of the box. That's my first impression of the speaker. It has the retro form factor of the 50-60s with a leatherette overall and handle instead of the usual plastic cover in other speakers, and the edges are covered by copper-coloured metal. Its look and feel shout out premium quality. And I have not tried it yet but I think the speaker should be able to withstand some light water exposure (e.g. leaving by the pool or beach, not under the rain!) thanks to its material. When it comes to sound quality, the JBL does not disappoint. The Authentics 300 has a big enough form factor that it can house a big subwoofer. It is not so big to cause windows to vibrate, but it packs enough punch for a small party should you decide to hold one. That said, I do find that I have to play around with the EQ to achieve the sweet spot for the music i usually listen to. Additionally, even though the speaker is excellent, the sound quality depends on the quality of the source as well. If I play music off YouTube videos, it will not sound as nice as if I play off a lossless source, or at least 320kbps mp3 files. The last thing I would like to mention is the JBL app to manage the speaker. It started with a bit of a hiccup where I cannot update the speaker's software or connect the speaker to Google smarthome. I eventually gave up but then decided to try a week later and everything worked. I suppose JBL identified the bug and fixed it at their end, or maybe it was my phone? I never know the answer to this, but at least I'm happy now that I can cast music to the speaker via Wifi instead of Bluetooth. If you can, I suggest you do the same because the sound quality does seem to improve when playing via Wifi. And especially, the speaker's EQ will work better when played via Wifi as it will not be influenced by the phone. All in all, I give the speaker a solid 5 stars. This is coming from an amateur audiophile who likes to listen to good quality music and have had experience with several speakers and headphones through my years.

I've been very impressed with this speaker: great battery life, powerful sound, bluetooth and with the Google assistant built in I can pair it with all my other existing Google Kit at home. It has been great for summer as I can take it out in the garden and the park and have some banging tunes in the open air the battery has lasted every test I've given it and my estimate is that it probably would do about 8 hours on charge alone. The sound is powerful and beats my sonus speaker which takes some doing the bass, treble and general volume can be adjusted separately. I had been thinking for some time of getting a TV sound bar but now I think that this with a simple audio lead will do the job instead I have tested it and the detail in movie and tv soundtracks is way more than I was picking up from the TV speakers before. I would definitely recommend it as a device which covers so many needs and it's in general great value the Sonos which I'm replacing this with cost a little less but has no audio input and is not portable.

I'm sure the 500 produces even better sound, but the battery in the JBL Authentics 300 is the winner (for a lot lower price). I'm back in love with Music! Not that I was ever far away, but this baby takes me back to my awesome full blown stereo setup when I was 18. The only thing missing is the hiss, crackle, pop of vinyl in the Seventies. Vocals are represented sooo clearly, I feel like the artists are singing right in front of me. The mix is represented perfectly!

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the JBL Authentics 300 Bluetooth Home Speaker, and I must say, it's a remarkable piece of audio equipment. The retro design is not only aesthetically pleasing with its leather imitation and quadrex grille, but it also houses cutting-edge ATMOS technology that delivers exceptional sound quality. The clarity is impeccable, and the subwoofer offers a deep, resonating bass that can be fine-tuned to your preference. The integration with Alexa and Google is seamless, adding convenience to its impressive list of features. The built-in microphone button is a thoughtful addition, ensuring privacy when needed. Moreover, the 'Moment' button is a standout feature, allowing you to save and play your favorite streaming services or radio stations with a simple touch. While the price point is on the higher side, the value it provides makes it a worthwhile investment for any audiophile. It's a product I would highly recommend to anyone looking to enhance their home audio experience.

The JBL Authentic 300 Bluetooth speaker is a triumph of both design and functionality. From the moment I unboxed it, I was impressed by its sleek, vintage-inspired design that perfectly blends into any modern or retro-styled room. The real magic, however, begins once you turn it on. The sound quality is nothing short of exceptional. The bass is deep and resonant without being overpowering, providing a solid foundation for all genres of music. The mid-range frequencies are clear and vibrant, capturing the subtleties of vocals and instruments alike. Highs are crisp and precise, adding a sparkling clarity that enhances the overall listening experience. Pairing the speaker with various devices was a breeze, thanks to its reliable Bluetooth connectivity. The battery life is another highlight, easily lasting through long listening sessions without needing a recharge. If you're looking for a Bluetooth speaker that combines style, portability, and top-notch sound quality, the JBL Authentic 300 is a standout choice.

Amazing product with amazing features. Wow, the sound is brilliant, Extreme adjustable bass. Great connectivity using the JBL One, Alexa or Google apps using the built-in wifi. I used both my wireless headphones as well as my wired ones using the 3.5mm jack socket and the sound was still excellent. The retro look is stylish and authentic. The 300 is a weighty beast, but still portable being able to use the power lead or built-in battery. It has a USB C port to enable connection of additional products. I listen to a variety of media, including Spotify, Amazon Music and Audible. Using the JBL One app allows me to change the sound settings to my preference. The only downside is the 300 is a bit pricey, but if you love excellent sound, quality and style it's well worth the price tag.

Whether we're having a dance party with the kids or just relaxing with some background music, it fills the room with clear, rich sound that everyone enjoys. It's also super easy to use. I love that it has Bluetooth and built-in Google Assistant—it's been a lifesaver for hands-free tasks like setting timers or playing our favorite playlists. The battery lasts long enough for our family gatherings, and it's straightforward to set up and control through the app. Overall, it's been a fantastic purchase that combines great sound quality with a stylish look, perfect for our family's needs.

Had this speaker for around 3 weeks now. The unboxing was super exciting and the initial visuals were impressive. It looks premium and the feel and touch is luxurious. I would say i have a mid range of tec experience and knowledge and this felt really easy to plug and play. Within minutes of being out the box I had my Spotify playlist blaring out the speaker. The sound is awesome, maybe a little too awesome for a semi detached house! Crisp, rich sound and can't wait to use it for a summer bbq. I am still working my way through the various features but really impressed with the quality.

I had a Bose SoundTouch 30 that annoyingly packed up and contacted Bose who said that they cannot repair the unit. So I thought I would try a JBL smart speaker as I already had a 9.1 sound bar for the TV which I was really impressed by. Bass and sound quality is amazing with more power than the previous Bose. Easy setup. The Dolby Atmos works over airplay. There are no preset buttons on it but not a problem as you can tell it what to play over Alexa or Google. There is no remote with it, so you need to download the JBL One App. There are volume, treble and base knobs on top. My only gripe is no remote, but I am very impressed overall. Virtually no distortion at really high volume, but it is so powerful you do not need to crank it up that high anyway.

This speaker has great sound quality but that is not the reason we purchased it. We purchased it for the smart speaker functionality. We have discovered however that it’s not very smart due to the inherent limitations of google and Alexa voice prompts. Eg Alexa can’t be used because it activates, more than often, our smart LG TV not the speaker. Google assistant cannot be linked to Amazon Music via voice control prompts only cast from the app itself. What to do? We were looking for more functionality than this. Tech needs to be advanced before smart speakers are value for money.

This is a great retro-looking speaker with excellent battery life and smart features. It has built-in assistants, both Alexa and Google Assistant, which is probably the only speaker on the market that offers this combination. I have it positioned in my kitchen, where I normally use Google Home for traffic info, cooking times, weather, or general questions, but I quite like using Alexa for turning lights on or off and controlling the heating, as it feels more natural to start a request with “Alexa, lights on” rather than “Hey Google” or “OK Google.” In terms of performance, it produces very clear sound, has good bass, and all of these can be easily adjusted in the app. This speaker is on the heavy side, so it has a very good battery life. I had it in the garden for more than five hours, and there was still plenty of charge left when I plugged it into the mains.

The JBL Authentic 300 is a standout speaker that shines in several key areas, making it a great addition to any outdoor adventure. With its long battery life, this speaker is perfect for extended BBQs, camping trips, or any other outdoor activities where you want your music to keep playing without constantly needing to recharge. One of the best features is its versatility. Not only does it deliver excellent sound quality, but it also doubles as a power bank. This means you can charge your phone on the go, which is incredibly convenient when you're away from home and outlets are scarce. However, there are a couple of minor drawbacks. The speaker cannot be put on standby to wake up from your phone, which isn't a major issue but something to be aware of. A slightly bigger downside is that you can't currently set up a Spotify playlist to the favor button. This could be a bit annoying for those who love their curated playlists, though there's hope that a software update might resolve this in the future. Overall, the JBL Authentic 300 is a fantastic product, especially for those who love spending time outdoors. Its long battery life and ability to charge your phone are significant benefits that outweigh its minor inconveniences. Highly recommended!
