This hair dye is amazing. I’d say maybe a slight learning curve, but very easy to figure out. The color payoff is better than any box dye I’ve used and it’s not as messy as cream color. The dye does not stain skin as much as other dyes either. I will be repurchasing again and again. If you need to know how many boxes to purchase based off of hair length/coarseness, my hair is about 30" long, medium thick 2b/2c and 2 boxes were more than enough! This is also great considering that most cream colors I would need 3 boxes.

There is NO WAY the good reviews for this product are real. I’ve been coloring my hair at home every 6 weeks for nearly a decade. I bought this brand of dye bc mine was out of stock and it’s hands down the worst hair dye I’ve ever used. It’s messy, the gloves are huge and slip all over the place, the foam falls everywhere, it’s impossible to get close to the roots around your face without getting dye all over your skin, it didn’t cover grays well despite leaving it on for the recommended time, my list goes on and on. I have nothing good to say about this product and I will never use it again.

The color itself looked great when it was done after covering faded red hair. You can see the red show through a little bit (which is expected because it never leaves your hair!) but it does still look dark brown and it looks good too. The only complaint i have is that it didn't foam up in my hair. I always buy two boxes just in case one isn't enough, and I used both because my hair was not foamy like the instructions implied. Not sure if I'd use this for anything other than dark brown, but my hair was incredibly soft and shiny afterwards. (Btw, I am not covering any grays, so I'm not sure how that would work.

Nope. Total fail. I really wanted to like this product. The idea of a foam hair color is appealing for so many reasons, including ease of use, less mess, and more even color distribution. This product checked those boxes, but failed miserably on others. First – I used a small amount of the conditioner as a “barrier cream“ before applying color, which I do quite often with other at home hair color kits. Within seconds, my skin began burning and turned red. I had to wash the conditioner off my face before applying the color. Second – the “cool espresso“ color I used ended up being WAY too dark and flat looking. But — and worst of all – ZERO gray coverage. So now I have super dark tips and gray roots. Complete waste of money. I’ll have to go back to my old brand.

I’m losing my hair! It falls out in clumps. This needs to be removed front the shelves. I wish I would have read reviews prior to using it but I didn’t and now I don’t know how to stop my hair falling out.

It made my hair fall out in clumps in the shower rinsing it out and did nothing to my hair. My whole head was saturated and I left it on for 25 mins. I still have grays peeking out at my roots. Total waste of money. I might have gotten an old box because the conditioner smelled a little musty as well. My hair is already a dark brown I got this to diminish my red/orange brassy tones and it didn’t change a thing. The foam was nice if it had worked. I’m sticking to Madison Reed. Pricy but worth it.
