Keymaster Games Harvest Board Game

I have been able to play a few times now and I really enjoy this game. I love the art, it reminds me of the old Little Golden Books. The key to this game is do as much as you can on your turn. I would say 10+ years old is the correct age range. I would also say it is a little bit more complicated than Trekking the National Parks. This game is more strategic. Its fun to grow and harvest and revealing new buildings to use. I love the wheel barrows and buttons!

Harvest is seriously one of my favorite board games. I’ve played it probably a dozen times (maybe more, I’ve lost count) and it’s always a blast. If you’re into board games even a little, you need to check it out. The gameplay is super fun, especially if you like worker placement games (which I do). It has the perfect balance between complexity and accessibility. It’s relatively easy to learn and has enough going on to keep it interesting. I’ve played with a lot of different people too — my wife, my kids, my friends, even my mother-in-law. It’s the perfect family game. The quality is top-notch, which is what you’d expect from Keymaster (they’ve published games like Parks, Chicken!, and Caper: Europe — another personal favorite of mine). The Kickstarter edition has some fancy components like metal coins and wooden tokens, but even the standard chipboard components in the retail edition are still beautiful and have well-printed graphics. Speaking of graphics, as a graphic designer I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the game’s beautiful design. The art by Tierra Connor is absolutely gorgeous! Her illustrations have a charming style that feels like classic Little Golden Books. I could go on and on about how much I love Harvest. I can’t recommend it enough. It’s worth every penny if you ask me.

If you are a gamer like me, you probably were waiting for this. All online pictures and YouTube videos, they show at least an Insert and dual-layered boards. This one comes with single layered player boards, and everything is cardboard (except the barrels and buttons). My understanding was that the Kickstarter would upgrade the coins and fruits to wooden and metal tokens. This is NOT worth $60. I at least expected a good insert. Parks sometimes retails for $40 and that is superb in quality from the same publisher. KeyMaster is price gouging hobbiers with this one. There are cheaper better games out there with better component quality. I would say WAIT for discounts or drop-in-price. NOT worth $60 for the Target version.
