A: Tare Operation Instructions: You may wish to weigh ingredients in a bowl or other container (not included). In this case, you will need to tare, or offset, the weight of the bowl so that only the weight of the ingredients is displayed. 1. Choose a container that will safely balance on the platform without tipping or falling. Do not use a heavy container, as this might reduce the maximum capacity of the scale. 2. While the scale is off, place the empty container on the scale platform. Turn the scale on. The display will turn on and then show zero. The weight of the container has been zeroed out. 3. Add the ingredient to be weighed. The weight of the ingredient alone will display. 4. The weight of additional ingredients may be tared out as well. For example, if a recipe calls for ½ lb rice and ½ lb beans, place the rice into the bowl. Once the correct amount of rice is weighed, press down on the knob to reset the display to zero. Add the ½ lb of beans. Both ingredients have been accurately weighed in the same bowl. 5. When weights have been tared out, the display will show a negative number when the items are removed from the scale. To reset the scale back to zero for a new measurement, press down on the knob to reset the display to zero for a new measurement.

I would give this 0 stars if I could. I used it three times since buying in January and the scale is malfunctioning to where it will no longer calculate the weights. It will randomly have different numbers flash on the screen. The item is also out of the return window so I can even get my money back.

Worked fine for a little over a year and randomly stopped working. The scale either gives a weird error code or remains at 0 no matter what you weigh or what surface you put it on. This isn't a cheap scale so it's super disappointing how quickly this stopped working.

I wish I can put a 0 star. The worst digital scale I have purchased. To top it off it’s under warranty and it’s a super hassle to return directly to the manufacturer. I have to wait to get it covered by my extended insurance that I purchased. Overall it’s ridiculous. Definitely not recommend. The weigh positions do not reset. It is stuck in grams only. 0 star in my opinion. It stopped working within 3 months of purchase. Awful! So upset!

For weighing out carrots or potatoes, it’s just fine, but it’s wildly inaccurate (and getting worse by the day) for smaller amounts. I recently switched from a Keurig to making pour-over coffee, and thought I could just use this scale to weigh out my daily grind. Yesterday I put in 16g of coffee, paused to talk to my husband, turned back to the scale and the readout then displayed 12g. What??? This morning I put mu mug and v60 on the scale, zeroed it out, and started adding grounds. The v60 was 2/3 of the way full of grounds and the readout still said 0. Lifted the filter + grounds off, zeroed it out, put the filter + grounds back in the v60 and the display said 64g. I’m giving up and buying something more reliable.

I bought this thinking it would be better quality because of the brand, but it did not work right out of the box. I added new batteries thinking maybe the ones included were dying, but it did not help. Sitting on the counter with nothing on it it would not zero out, but the number kept going up and down. I returned it for a cheaper option that worka great.

This scale is highly accurate to 1lbs. This unfortunately includes the weight of your container. After 1lbs it starts to fluctuate +/- 10% or more. It’s also position sensitive for the weight of your item, I’ve seen up to 2 oz fluctuations just based on where the item was on the scale. I will be replacing this scale as soon as I can.

Now that I don't get my normal caffeine fix from the local coffee shop right outside my office since we're work from home, it was time to upgrade the at-home methods and guessing wasn't going to cut it. I was excited to find a KitchenAid branded scale at Target since I trust that brand for many of my home gadgets. Not only is the scale really pretty with the glass and stainless steel it also has a really bright display. I loved that I could weigh my grounds in grams and then switch the setting to fluid ounces and pour in my hot water. This cup just happened to be pretty strong - just the way I like (or need) it these days! Time to cross some projects off the to-do list!
