Q: Why would you want the bowl-lift feature vs a tilt head?

submitted by Cassie - 1 year ago
  • A: Hi Cassie, The bowl-lift models offer a higher wattage for mixing larger quantities.

submitted byKitchenAidTeam - 1 year ago
    Brand expert
  • A: Bread/pizza dough. Lift stand models have no "flex" in the hinge when kneading with the dough hook. Minor trade-off is having to remove the beater/hook before removing the bowl, vs tipping it up.

submitted byTL - 3 months ago
  • A: You can use this in more versatile places, such as under an overhang or cabinet without having to move it to lift the bowl.

submitted byMrs Meow - 3 months ago

Q: I just purchased one and the bowl sits tilted down (not level) and the attachments scrape the side of the bowl some, is that normal?

submitted by aly - 3 months ago
  • A: Mine is the same way

Very pretty mint color. Works great. I did regret that I bought the 5.5 qt size I should’ve gone with smaller size since I don’t produce that much of food normally but that’s my problem. Just be mindful of the size you pick! Great machine though!

    Learning to love it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am learning to understand the concept! I have used beater type mixers all my life, I am 71. Although, I am beginning to like this Kitchen Aid. I have used it for two cakes, to whip cream and knead bread dough. Again, just learning because I have always kneaded dough with my hands, and I have been making my own bread for about 6 years. Always ready to learn new tricks! I gave it 4 stars, because it is very heavy which is a disadvantage for me, otherwise, it is definitely growing on me.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love my new mixer. The only complaint I have is that it is hard to add ingredients when it is running. Even if I turn off the machine and lower the bowl, it is still hard to pour in ingredients in the bowl. I have been making cinnamon rolls every week with it, and when I have to add my flour (9 cups) to the mixture it is a little difficult. I wish there was an easier way to add ingredients.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This lift stand has a bit more space to scrape down the sides of the bowl. I've used the tilt-head before and found it harder to scrape. Adjusting the height of the whip before the first use was a little tricky (It really doesn't take much). The only thing I don't like is the wire whip is not dishwasher safe. After baking cakes/cupcakes all day long, I forgot and put it in the dishwasher which made dark grey powder come off the top part when I wiped it down with water. Otherwise, it has really helped with making more consistent frostings. It's also attractive on the counter and is not loud.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this 5.5qt bowl-lift mixer during the 2024 cyber sales and got a great deal. Unfortunately, I was mixing- for the first time- dry ingredients and turned it on the low setting and it revved itself to full blast instead, flinging flour etc. everywhere. No matter what setting i tried low to high it ran at the same high speed. So disappointing. I called Kitchenaid however, and they sent me a new one and even replaced the pouring shield that broke also. The new one is great. So much better than hand mixer and design is better than the tilt mixer. I have used it for cookies, pizza dough, bread dough etc. many times with no problems. I find I do have to scrape the bowl alot so I might try the flex edge paddle next.

    I regret the purchase

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this to replace my old Kitchen Aid Artisan stand mixer and I am very disappointed. The mechanism to hold the bowl in place comes unscrewed pretty frequently- sometimes during mixing. It is also hard to get the bowl placed and locked in properly. It also gets very hot and stops working during regular kneading (not a bread that is really tough, just regular bread). I very much regret the purchase and wish I had purchased another with the tilt head The color is nice.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall the machine does generally what they say it does. But there is no reason not to vent your motor so that it can cool itself and so mandate that you must also limit the power to the bowl. Thereby making it so wet does cannot be needed by this machine and I do mean that it will stall out if you have something too heavy in the bowl. No, the gear will not break. I have actually had this brand new machine on the second use simply come to a grinding halt.
