Q: Why would you want the bowl-lift feature vs a tilt head?

submitted by Cassie - 1 year ago
  • A: Hi Cassie, The bowl-lift models offer a higher wattage for mixing larger quantities.

submitted byKitchenAidTeam - 1 year ago
    Brand expert
  • A: You can use this in more versatile places, such as under an overhang or cabinet without having to move it to lift the bowl.

submitted byMrs Meow - 4 months ago
  • A: Bread/pizza dough. Lift stand models have no "flex" in the hinge when kneading with the dough hook. Minor trade-off is having to remove the beater/hook before removing the bowl, vs tipping it up.

submitted byTL - 4 months ago

Q: I just purchased one and the bowl sits tilted down (not level) and the attachments scrape the side of the bowl some, is that normal?

submitted by aly - 3 months ago

This is easy to use and clean. Just make sure there is enough room on the counter for the head to lift up. It's great for small/med batches. Kids can use with ease as well.

Within first use noticed that the gear head was spewing medal shavings into my dough. I’m assuming there is no grease on the gears. Called KitchenAid and they are taking their sweet time sending me my replacement. For $450 this is embarassing. Hope the new one doesn’t do the same! Buy the warranty.

    quality went down

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the 5.5 quart bowl-lift stand mixer about a month ago , to replace my 6 quart one that broke down , after many years of faithful service . I immediately noticed that the quality was not as good as my previous one . The bowl was thinner , no knob on the lift handle , but the handle is the worst part , it hurts my hand every time I pick it up . And it feels the engine is not as powerful as my previous one . So, I'm disappointed , that's why I gave a three and a half star rating. Now , if there was anyway I could swap the existing bowl with one with a good handle ,my rating would go to four and a half . It is my favorite small appliance , I use it everyday , especially with the attachments . Is a good handle too much to ask for?

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) Now I understand why all the bakers in my baking shows use this mixer! It’s amazing! I love it so much. The bowl is great. It’s big enough, and I appreciate that it has a handle. The attachments are perfect ( the paddle is my favourite). Easy to operate. Making my baked goods, and my buttercream is a breeze with this. I was worried about spending the money on it, but it was the best purchase. Also, being able to get the amount of different attachments is great. Very happy

An inferior product replaces a once great product

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This replaces a KitchenAid stand mixer that I had for 20 years. The efficiency pales in comparison to what I had. Even after adjusting the bowl clearance, it fails to properly whip/beat. It requires constant interruption to both scrape down the sides of the bowl and the bottom. Because the clearance is too great, it takes an extended period of time to combine/beat/whip/mix. It appears my recourse will be to make an additional purchase of a flat edge beater & hope that will at least address the problem on the sides of the bowl but it is unacceptable that you are required to make additional purchases to make a product usable (hopefully). I doubt you will publish this review but I hope you do so that others are aware that KitchenAid no longer produces a quality product

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My husband purchased this mixer for me as a gift. We have had a KitchenAid Tilt head 5 Quart mixer for 25 years but due to some baking I do, I needed one with a little more power. I am happy with the power, a little concerned about the way the dough hook clanks around where it is hooked to the machine-- is that normal? Also just recently read about not using the dough hook for more than 2-3 minutes--- I only go to #2 for mixing power, but really need to mix for 8 minutes---- so I am not happy with this limit on time.
