Q: Why is there a prop 65? What part is the dangerous part on this product.

A: All power cords have insulation that contains chemicals on the Prop 65 list, so you might want to wash your hands after handling the cord and plug before continuing your cooking. If you chew on a power cord, consuming chemicals will be less of a problem than the electricity inside the cord. I don't know why the manufacturer said "the power cord could come in contact with something hazardous" because Prop 65 is about chemicals, not overall product safety. Still, it's good not to damage the cord with anything hot or sharp, or with solvents.
submitted byKathryn - 1 month agoA: Hi Betz, Proposition 65 was enacted in 1986 in the State of California. It requires an updated list once a year of potentially harmful materials. Whirlpool/KitchenAid meets or exceeds all standards for safe materials, but our products do have cords, which causes them to make the list. Any time you have a cord, there is the potential for it to come in contact with something hazardous.

Q: There is no spring on the shaft. Should'nt this have a spring on the shaft like the old models. The beater/hook will just fall off when the ingredients push the beater upwards.

I got this mixer for a Christmas gift to myself. I just opened it up and the paint is already chipped off two of the attachments. I am so disappointed. This mixer was pricey and the attachments are cheap. I can’t mix food with chipped paint attachments. It would get in my food. I was excited to get this mixer. Brand new and I can’t even use it. I’m going to have to take it back. I give this a 0 stars. Useless attachments.

Its so simple that there is barely any need to even read the manual. Used this to help with my rum cakes this Christmas and this helped me churn through them like it was nothing. Its heavy to move around but that heft gives you such confidence that you are buying this for life. If they have not cut any corners and maintained the quality for what these stand mixers were know for, I am pretty sure this will end up in my will.

I bought it a little over a month ago, but the lock for the stand mixer head does not stay engaged when the mixer is operational, even when I am mixing a simple, low-resistance cookie dough. That is my biggest qualm with this stand mixer. My Hamilton Beach did not have this issue.

Unfortunately, though this one looks like hers from a distance, it's nowhere near the quality. The stem that holds attachments has no spring, so the attachments are loose. The motor is variable, revving up and down. The bowl has a cheap handle. Everything about this seems less well made. But it works, insofar as it beats cookie batter or whips cream.
