Apply along the top and bottom lash line beginning in the inner corner of the eye and working outward. Suitable to use on the inner rim in the waterline. Q: I had the same problem it does not roll up so I only used it a couple of times, so you can sharpen I will try this.

Q: Does anyone know how you twist up the eyeliner? I know the bottom should twist, but I tried twisting botj ways for a quite a long time with no results. I love the formula and really want to figure it out, so thanks in advance:)

I loved this product when I first tried it. However, only about an inch of the pencil is usable then it becomes impossible to sharpen when you get to the part of the pencil with writing on it. I tried 3 different eye pencil sharpeners, including the Loreal Infallible sharpener specifically made for these. The pencil breaks and comes off in large chunks. Totally worthless.

I did love the product until the initial point was used (about 4 uses). All of the questions posted are asking the same thing, how to sharpen. Per Loreal, you use an eye pencil sharpener which I tried. After breaking thru the plastic on the tip, my point was less than pointy, more broken, uneven and not able to use. What a waste of money, I would like to have my money back.

It’s wonderful until it has to be sharpened. Once sharpened the end of the liner is too wide to apply like an eyeliner.

I love this eyeliner. I was very surprised when I read the negative reviews. I'm the kind of person that wears eyeliner pretty much every day and after trying so many eyeliners of varying brands, this is the best drugstore brand eyeliner. For me, this eyeliner didn't come off or smudge throughout the day. Yes, it's annoying to sharpen, but I don't mind if it gives me the result I want. Also, I just use an Elf brand sharpener and it does the job.

I liked how nicely this went on and lasted without smudging. But after a week the point was getting full and there was no way to sharpen it. My regular eye sharpener just caused it to splinter scratching my eyelid in the process. What a waste of money.

Nice product, difficult to sharpen and you need to be sure the casing isn't too sharp when finished. I do like how it stays on without smudging. It last the day through which for me is worth the hassle. I'm halfway thru and trying to decide if I should purchase again.

This is a waste of money. There is no way to push more product out. Turning the end does nothing. The Q&A only mentions sharpening with a sharpener, but there is not enough of the eyeliner sticking out to sharpen. I was only able to use it about 5 times and now it's garbage.

the package didn't indicate how to get more out of the tip/crayon so I assumed it was either twist or sharpen type. Even thought the bottom twists, nothing happened. Had to look through quite a bit of reviews and L'orieal pages to find out that you need an industrial-grade eye pencil sharpener. Total waste of my money, my first for the L'oreal products which I usually love.

I had high hopes for this eyeliner. Purchased the cobalt blue and grey shade. They do not hold a tip well and need to be sharpened often. At that point the tip always breaks off. Do not waste your money on these products. Very disappointing.

I agree with the other reviews. You cannot sharpen the pencil with a standard eye make-up sharpener. I could only use the pencil 8 times before it flattened out, making it impossible to use again! Who designed this product?

I cannot advance the pencil. It has a sharp point when bought but after that point is gone the pencil won’t move. This is an e pensive product to have it only last about 2weeks. Very disappointed in the product, but love the color 950 Grey Gris

Like so many others, I bought this loved the color and the application then couldn’t sharpen it. Such a waste money for a liner that you can only use a couple times. I tried with a brand new sharpener and light pressure as they keep recommending to others. The plastic casing comes out jagged and the tip breaks off. You would think with thousands of reviews like this the company would issue a recall or offer a refund and redesign the mechanics of this pencil. You can’t blame user error on the thousands of bad reviews. This tells you that the design is flawed. L’Oréal, if you stand by your products and care about your customers you will make this right. There are too many negative reviews.

Hi there, We can see how frustrating this has been for you. There can be a slight learning curve to getting a good point restored. These new generation gel liners need a sharp blade and a very gentle touch to sharpen well. For best results don’t try to push the pencil into the sharpener. At the slightest resistance, you’re in far enough. Gently turn and shave off a thin layer to reveal more liner. Pushing the pencil in too far will cause the blade to grab too much of the resin, the pencil won’t sharpen well that way. Awful. As most reviews state, you cannot sharpen this. It’s good for about a week and then it’s trash. The color, ease of application and staying power are top-notch, but these mean nothing when you can’t use it. DO NOT BUY.

Tip broke off. When I bought it I didn't notice it was a pencil. There is a hard plastic coating on it. I couldn't sharpen it. Had to use a Cutco knife. Every time I sharpened it the soft tip would break off. It's a shame because the eyeliner stays on and doesn't smudge. Too bad.

Spent even more money on a brand new sharpener, it doesn't work. Very disappointed as I loved the color. More disappointed that the company's only response is that people are sharpening it wrong. Only lasts a week or two.
