Q: Is the wand recyclable? It seems a huge waste of plastic if not. Is it easier to apply? I use a brush and a bowl anyway. They are pretty cheap and can be used over and over again.

Pros: *I was very impressed with the packaging and quality of the materials even down to the waterproof/tear proof instructions. *1 charge lasts for 3 cartridges *quiet operation *detailed written directions as well as videos that walk you through several different situations and a 1-800 number you can call *self cleaning machine *you can use any left over dye in the cartridge in the future Cons: *to me the hair color had a rotten egg odor which was not over powered, but definitely not pleasant. *because the hair color is not a thick cream, I dripped EVERYWHERE. This could be user error, but it is something to be aware of. *high overall price point, however you can use it multiple times with any cartridge so I think it pays off Overall, I will use this again in the future, and I am pleased with the product This review was collected as part of a promotion

In saying this, this system is very easy to use and comes will all the necessary items needed to complete the process. Was packaged in eco friendly packaging with all supplies labeled well. System needs to be charged before use. To use, all you have to do is pick the hair color cartridge that you prefer, pop the cartridge in the device and press the button and start coloring. In less than 5 minutes my hair was saturated and the smell was tolerable during application. The conditioner smells amazing! Although the color wasn’t as bold as I would have liked, i feel that this system would do better as a touch up system vs a full color to start. Or maybe I needed a second cartridge for full coverage vs root touch ups. Overall I rated this system 5 stars as it was very convenient and easy to use.

I chose medium blonde, and it was a good match. There are two different applicators that can be used to spread the dye on the hair. I found both to be easy to use. Once I got used to the applicator, dispersing the dye on my roots was an easy process. The packaging is very clearly labeled and I really like the waterproof mat where you can put the tools down to keep your space mess free. I did feel that the applicators were a bit pricey, but I am going to see how many applications I get out of each one.

The device made the entire coloring process so much easier and cleaner than traditional box dyes. It was a quick application, intuitive, and I loved that there was no mess—no dripping, no stained counters, just smooth application with the oscillating brush. The Darkest Brown shade turned out beautifully. It’s a rich, deep brown with a hint of warmth that gave my hair a really nice, natural-looking depth. My hair felt soft and looked shiny afterward, which was a bonus. I also appreciated that the formula is ammonia-free and packed with nourishing ingredients like marula oil and vitamin B3—it didn’t feel harsh on my scalp at all. Overall, it felt like a salon-quality result at home, and I’d definitely use it again. It’s a great option if you want something easy, clean, and effective.

I mistakenly unwrapped the cartridge (as pictured), but thankfully that did not impact the color. It is two tubes that the machine mixes, just like with box dye where we have to mix it ourselves. With regards to the dye, the smell was not overpowering. Though for an expensive device (and expensive color!), I cannot say that it mixes well into the scalp. The bristles are not that strong or deep enough. Even though I massaged the color in, after using the device, I still had uneven color on my scalp. It was even white in some spots, implying I did not get color there at all! Also, I guess the machine turns off by itself. I tried clicking the power button and eventually just left it.
So easy to use!!

The packaging was impressive, and everything was clearly labeled, which made setup feel straightforward at first. However, my enthusiasm was tempered by a few practical setbacks. The device needed to be charged before use—a delay I hadn’t anticipated—and figuring out how to properly warm up the applicator took some trial and error despite following the instructions. When it came to application, the tool really shined for root touch-ups—quick, mess-free, and truly effortless. Unfortunately, applying color to the mid-lengths and ends was more cumbersome and felt unnecessarily complicated. As a former stylist, I found this part of the process less intuitive and more frustrating than simply using a traditional bottle and brush. Color-wise, the result was even and pretty, though not quite true to the label. I used shade 6A (Ash), hoping to cancel out warmth, but it didn’t deliver on that front as expected. Still, the color looked nice overall. In the end, I appreciate the innovation and the potential behind the Colorsonic system, but it didn’t quite win me over. For the price point, I’d expect a smoother, more versatile experience—especially for full-head color. That said, if you’re looking for a tool specifically for root touch-ups and want to avoid mess, this could be a game-changer.

The packaging labels everything so clearly and the videos really help guide you through it. The product itself had a bit of a weird smell, the color and conditioner both - I also felt my hair looked a little bit dry after (photo attached is the day after use) but I also have curly/frizzy hair which require a lot of moisture.

Application was easy to control with minimal waste. It covered well and after 20-30 mins washed my hair and for the most part most of my gray hairs were covered and hair felt soft. Good selection of color choices for the cartridges. I think I would go one color darker next time. The device was a little intimidating at first but once I started using it it got easier. It is a little pricey but instead of going into a salon this is a good option.

I gave this product four stars mostly due to the expense of the Colorsonic device. It’s pretty pricey for what it does. The cartridges are priced ok as I think I can get several uses from each one. I have blonder hair with some highlights and some gray as I get older. I feel this definitely is great for covering the gray hair around the face. It’s easy to load the cartridge into the Colorsonic. It’s easy to brush it through the fine hair around the face and it covers well. It’s hard to tell exactly how much product you have used or how much is left with this device. Clear cartridges would help. I only did the hair around my face for now so I’m not sure how many cartridges it would take for someone with long hair, etc. The smell isn’t terrible, just normal hair color smell. It comes with a conditioner in the cartridge which left my hair soft and easy to comb when wet. I’ll have to check out the other color selections available. I think my daughters that color their hair darker would probably love this system as their hair is all one color. The major benefit of this system is that you don’t have to mix color, developer, powders, etc. The box does show the potential results of the color based on current hair color which were pretty spot on to the results. This will be great for doing up under my hair as it’s about impossible to do that section myself.

Load it with the hair dye that is already premixed for you, and the center teeth move to disperse the dye into your roots. Very cool, earth friendly packaging. Comes with a cartridge just for water for cleaning afterwards. I can’t say I’ve seen anything like this on the market before, but I’m not sure that I’d grab this to dye my roots. However, it is very precise, and much less messy. I think this would be cool to use for a professional, or someone who is doing the roots of multiple people. The pre mixed dye comes with a deep conditioning treatment as well. It’s very convenient! I’m not entirely sure I would reach for this to dye my roots and I’m not sure how long any extra dye can be saved for later use. Comes with a charger for the tool as well!

5 Stars – Quick, clean, and totally worth it! This product really impressed me. It was very easy to install and use, with a straightforward setup that took just minutes. I also love that it’s rechargeable—no dealing with cords or constantly changing batteries. While the device is a bit on the heavier side, it’s a fair tradeoff because the application process is much faster than the traditional way of dyeing hair. The dye went on smoothly, cleanly, and very precisely, and there was more than enough product included for full coverage. The whole experience felt much more efficient and less messy than usual. Overall, it’s a smart and effective tool that delivers great results without the usual hassle. I’d definitely recommend!

The kit is super plentiful with gloves, a cleansing system, attachments, a charger, conditioner, and a color cartridge. The entire process took less than an hour and my hair was left feeling really smooth and healthy! I had a few gray hairs that are gone now and the overall color wasn’t drastic but made my hair look richer and healthier.
