Your butter is different

I always use butter to keep my eggs from sticking to my frying pan. Using your butter has created many stuck eggs which keep my omelette from flipping over. I have not experienced this with Amish butter or any other quality butter . I am definitely not going to buy your butter again. I’m also a dairy farmer that is annoyed by companies that put out products that don’t put out quality products that would be representative of the dairy quality we expect. Real Butter should not be loaded with fillers. Fillers burn to pans just like they do in the cheese on a pizza. Sorry but I don’t like your butter. Our cookies also went flat too.

For the last 30 years I have ONLY used Land O Lakes salted stick butter. It is the ONLY butter we buy and the ONLY butter I use for my chocolate chip cookies. I made 3 batches of cookies and they all flattened out and were greasy! What are you adding to the butter? Oil? If it's not oil or water you have added then you have removed a good amount of the actual cream because it is definitely NOT THE SAME PRODUCT! We pay way more for Land O Lakes butter than other brands because we love the taste, however if you are cutting corners and thinking no one will notice you are wrong! Longtime Land O Lakes butter loyal customer!

We apologize for your experience. Our butter making process remains the same. O LAKES® Butter is made from Grade AA sweet cream and salt. To be called "butter," a product must meet the standards outlined in the definition established by the government. Those standards require that butter be made exclusively from milk, cream or both, with or without salt, with or without additional coloring matter, and that it contains not less than 80% milkfat. Additionally, cookies may spread for a variety of reasons. We have some helpful articles written by the experts in our Test Kitchens on this subject that you may find helpful. https://www.landolakes.com/expert-advice/cookie-know-how-why-do-my-cookies-spread/ https://www.landolakes.com/faqs/baking/cookies/ Please watch for an email from us so we can gather more information from you. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.

I love Land o Lakes butter. I've been baking for over 50 years and I've used different brands of butter. The 3 usually use are Land o Lakes, Tillamook, and Challenge. In my opinion, and the opinion of my husband and neighbors, and grandson, Land o Lakes is at the top. We've all noticed the flavor difference. It's so much better. Plus, Land o Lakes makes awesome white buttercream frosting. And I do mean a nice white. I've tried several times to upload a picture, but it wouldn't allow me for some reason. It's a shame, because it would have been an excellent example of white frosting made with Land o Lakes butter.
Love it.

Land o lakes butter at room temp is much softer that it was 6 months ago. Not sure what changed but I might as well be buying margarine because that's what it taste/feels like. Sincerely, ex-long time user.

Our store recently changed to the 2 pack which was the only available way to buy the 1 lb stick butter. I do not like adding more plastic to the environment - totally unnecessary!

I don’t understand why they are using water as a filler, my butter I have bought is 1/4 water. They need to go back to making it with more cream than water. It’s not as good. They are just beating people like all other companies
1 reply from Consumer Affairs team - 9 months ago
Thank you for sharing your concerns with us. The ingredients in our butter remain the same, sweet cream and salt. Water is not added to butter. Butter is produced by churning fresh, sweet cream, and during this process some water remains in the butterfat.

This is a good quality butter that I use when I’m baking. It’s a step down from Kelly Brand, which I feel is the best. I always buy it when it’s on sale because it is a little more expensive than storebrand.

When melting LOL butter I found seen how it now separates into melted “oil” and butter curds. I have been unable to supply my family with fried eggs or my ver special and loved Mac and cheese! So frustrating!!!!

This is by far the best butter at Target. It’s the only one that consistently tastes fresh and clean, without any weird “off” flavors.

I have been a dedicated customer of Land O Lakes for over 50 years. Yes, the taste is different, but it's NOT the butter! If you have had Covid your sensitivity to salt has changed. I can cook something with the only seasoning being salted butter, and it will be too salty. Try using unsalted butter and adding the amount of salt you need separately. Just my experience.

We have been buying LOL for years recently the packaging has changed and SALTED needs to be more PROMINENT on package! My husband has been eating the WRONG butter for days and is on a sodium controlled diet, under 2000 mg per day and it matters darn it! Salted in small 1 shade off green color band is not sufficient especially since he is color blind and had to view on zoom in website to even see it, totally missed it on package. Saw blue stripe which is traditionally used for only un-salted packages and bought it.

I have always used Land O Lakes butter. For the last 60 years. The Last 5 Years I have noticed that it's the butter Land O'Lakes that is ruining my baking. I know this because I finally went and bought another butter and the problem was no longer happening so I think you definitely did something to your butter. Therefore I will no longer be buying Land O'Lakes.

I make the best chocolate chip cookies. For years, I have touted LOL salted sticks as the #1 choice for baking-and you deserved every accolade. However, shame on you for not admitting that you changed something. Jeesh, I thought my oven was broken!! I feel vindicated seeing all these other comments and wish you just put “new recipe” on the box.

While visiting my mom in Florida she made two separate batches of cookies with two different pounds of butter from two different stores. Both were two salty to eat. I was discussing this with a friend from Wisconsin who said she recently made some cookies with the butter and had the same problem. We've always used this butter. What gives?
