A: Not at all - the 3 month trial subscription is only for the "Academy" App. After the three months, if you decide to continue it, the charge is $5 per month (and that includes more than one tablet (so it is nice if you have more than one child using it, the charge is still only $5)). The other apps are either pre-loaded on the tablet (like how some apps are included on a cell phone), or you can purchase additional apps on the parent page for approx. $5 to $10 each, and they can also be uploaded to more than one tablet. We initially did not continue the Academy subscription, and the table was completely usable and fun for the kids since they have several other apps to choose from and play. Similar to a cell phone - there are apps that get used and apps that don't (if your child loves the Academy app, you may want to continue the subscription; if not, cancel and they can play the other apps). Also, Leapfrog runs specials and discount codes for the app store, so keep an eye out for those.

Not a great product as far as the quality of the actual product for some reason this the third one I received and still don't work properly. The charger is poor quality!!!! The WARRANTY doesn't cover SCREEN DAMAGE !!!!! The actual educational system is great !!!!! When it works

I bought this for my LO as a Christmas present. I even purchased a few apps only for a few days later when my LO went to play with it noticed that the touchscreen was no longer working. I tried a force reset and it ultimately ended up stuck on that screen. In addition, random hair line cracks started to appear even though the device was never dropped outside or on a hard surface. In the short time span my LO liked the apps and now I on the fence on if I should purchase(on sale) again or just get another educational tablet.

I have mixed feelings about this product. After reading through the reviews, I was skeptical but decided to give it a try. My 4 year old son seems to like it. It’s very educational with great learning videos and games. We’ve only had it for a week so I don’t know about the quality of the product itself. My son isn’t destructive with his toys so I think we are just fine there. My issue is the $5.99 a month or $25 a year for a subscription for the apps my son would be bored with within a month. Here’s the big issue… for more educational apps, like the letter writing app shown on the display screen range from $5-$40(game bundles). That’s crazy! So not only do you have to pay for the subscription you also have to pay for the apps. I’ll continue to try it out but I’d rather deal with the Amazon kids tablet verses spending an additional $40 a month on new apps.

I normally never leave reviews on products I purchase, however this product deserves a review. I never liked the other kids tablets they have out for children. They were mostly fame orientated learning in a way that was over stimulating for my toddler. This tablet is amazing! It has so many apps, my daughter's speech has improved significantly since we've bought it. It's also so easy to use, my 3 year old has no need for me to sit and help her explore all of the tablet does And I really love that all of the learning apps bring the educational learning of the other Leap Frog items all into one device. The monthly fee is worth it if it's in your budget. All and all, Leap Frog did really well with the design and educational games/learning paths they put into this tablet! Thank you Leap Frog!!

I bought these for my 6 and 8 year old so they could play educational games without having to worry about them accessing the internet. This thing not only has an internet browser that it won’t let you disable or delete it has apps that can be downloaded such as Instagram and YouTube on here. Absolutely unnecessary and now pointless since I can’t keep this crap off it.

This device requires a monthly membership, it requires you to buy apps. There are NO free apps. It’s not very easy to navigate, especially for a 3year old. Overall really disliked this device and we went with the Amazon Kids tablet instead.

Charging port is faulty, and since the kids broke it (although it is so fragile to begin with that it is easy to break), they will not send us a new one. We loved it when it worked, altho it is very clunky compared to an iPad etc. we are very disappointed in quality and customer service.

Brought brand new yet after a month it takes 8 hours for it to fully charge only for it to die in 20 minutes. 6 months later it takes 3 days to charge only for it to die in 2 minutes. How is this legal to sell products like this? & yes it's the original charger, no liquids, no dropping has occurred.

I love the concept of this device but the execution is poor. There is definitely something faulty with the charging port—from the device occasionally charging but not holding the battery’s life for even an hour despite charging overnight and charging many nights without use; to not charging at all, which means we couldn’t use it whatsoever. I even sent the device in to be repaired for these issues, it was returned after a week for repairs (and shipping that I paid for) only to function within a day the same as prior to the repairs. My kid loved the educational games on the Leapad when she could play with it—which honestly speaking has been a single handful of times since its purchase thanks to the faulty hardware.

We've had this product for around 6 months, it comes with plenty of free apps but those bored my child quickly. Happily purchased add-on apps (expensive), but thankfully they frequently provide discount codes when you register your product. The stylus falls apart quickly and there is no replacement you can purchase, so you end up having to attach your own stylus which doesn't fit their conveniently odd-sized slot for their stylus. Then after you've gone through all that, the unit quits working and the battery will no longer charge. It's a shame because I like the educational software they have but the physical components are actually trash.

Purchased 2 for my twin’s 4th birthday 3 months ago. One fell off the couch breaking the screen deeming it useless now. Now I’m scared to let them play with the other. It fell 2 feet from the floor & was able to break with the case on. Replacement screen not available. Waste of money. We had one years ago for our daughter, now 11. Same thing with that one. I figured surely they had perfected their product by now but obviously they haven’t. That means they knowingly sell poor quality devices. I will be canceling our leapfrog subscriptions.
