Mesmerizing, Frustrating, and Temperamental

The AT-AT is an absolute colossus and absolutely breathtaking, regardless of whether you are a Star Wars fan or not. It will no doubt be an imposing display. However, its beauty is only surpassed by its fickleness. This AT-AT is very temperamental in the sense that it is extremely fragile. If you look at it for too long it might tip over. This is the least sturdy Lego structure my daughter and I have built, by far. While this is an iconic product and I do recommend it, for the price I would have expected a more rigid, solid, and durable display.

This build was missing pieces and very clumsy, and breaks easily when building for the amount of money this set is very very disappointed at the quality, I have built large sets and this one is the worst of them all, I would have never bought this if I knew it would keep breaking. Head section was the worst
Expensive - so what ! Its worth it

When I found out this set was due to retire at the end of the year I knew I had to get my hands on it. I was not disappointed by this set at all. This is my second UCS set with the first being the most recent UCS X-wing. First off the packaging for this set is awesome. Loved when I opened the side panel it looks like you’re looking through the binoculars that the rebels are using to see the walkers and when you open it up further you see the walkers closer. As for the build itself I really enjoyed it. As some people have mentioned there are repetitive parts of the build but that’s to be expected when you’re building the Walker. The 4 different boxes being divided up into different sections was also nice as it let me plan out this build better as you’re not going to complete it all in a day if you’re working full time. The instructions made it clear and easy to build and as I completed a box I felt a sense of accomplishment as I finished the different portions. My only complaint is that the panels on the sides and tops aren’t in secure but you can see why they did that as this set is primarily for display and not play. Overall I would buy this set again and have been recording it to my friends

I really liked the building process, and the final build was incredible to look at and to stand next to. My favourite part has to be that it is minifigure scaled and the leg mechanics are extremly intresting and fun!
Not a fun build

I can’t say that I enjoyed building this. Aligning multiple technic pins so that they could all “click” together into the respective holes was a very frustrating task. Every time I pushed these into place, some other part of the build would fall apart. Despite picking up the AT-AT from the base of the “belly” like instructed at the end of book 4, every single time I picked it up, some pieces from the belly would fall off and reattaching them was extremely difficult (I had to lay the whole thing on a pillow and take the “belly” apart multiple times). Very flimsy and unstable build. Did not enjoy the experience and would not recommend to a friend.
Best UCS set? Maybe. Incredible build? Absolutely!

This UCS AT-AT model is a wonderful build, both in terms of building experience and the model you have at the end. It rivals the UCS Millennium Falcon (75192) in those areas. The intricacy, technicality, and attention to detail is superb. The size and scale is simply massive. And, impressively, it does offer “play” features, although these should be considered more as “display” features. You can adjust the legs and feet to different angles and positions, move and open the head/cockpit and remove the head and main body side panels for a cross-section view, use the snow speeder bikes and tripod blaster, attach a Luke minifigure to the AT-AT’s belly with his lightsaber as if he’s about to blow it up in the iconic The Empire Strikes Back scene, and add 30 more snowtroopers to fill in the interior seating (which I did, and it is worth it!). It’s simply stunning to look at, it stands sturdy on its own, and it’s fun to change up the poses and remove the panels to see the interior. The most impressive and fun part of the build, for me, was the head and neck, which is so well designed, looks amazing and intimidating, and articulates and moves just like in the films. The big blaster cannons even have moving recoil action! Perfect. The building experience itself is incredible. It is essentially a giant posable Technic model with detailed gray plating on the outside and a very detailed interior, so you work with a lot of different types of pieces and unique building methods, which make the repetitive parts (mostly the legs) much more interesting to complete. There is a lot of symmetry so there’s some repetition there too, but again, the detail, structure, and way it is built makes it interesting and engaging. This thing is huge, and I needed 2 tables to assemble it - one to place the model on once the legs were attached to the main supporting platform, and one to build components that I added to the model as I finished each section. But one bigger table would work. Having space to build (and display) is key. Like the UCS Millennium Falcon, it comes with 4 boxes of pieces inside the main box, with 18 sets of bags in total, and it took me about 2 weeks of slow, casual building to finish with one bag set at a time. It does demand attention and patience to make sure you get everything correct since it is such a technical model. I made a couple of small, quickly fixable mistakes, but it would be frustrating to make larger mistakes and have to significantly disassemble, so taking your time with this one is worth it, especially considering the cost. But the instructions do a very good job at having you pause at crucial steps to make sure you have everything right. It was also fun to read about how it was designed while I worked through the instruction books (4 books in total, one per box, rather than a single massive book). Overall, I rate this 5 stars, right up there with the UCS Millennium Falcon. The Falcon is my favorite, but this is a very close second. If you can budget it (it is expensive, especially for the piece count), get it before it retires!

This is an amazing Star Wars lego set, interesting build, many features, looks great on display! Downside it takes up a lot of space and is quite fragile, and also quite pricey! But would highly recommend this set if you have the space and the money to purchase it. Would have to be one of my favourite Star Wars lego sets, so much so that I have 2!
Great fun to build, a little flimsy

Had great fun building it. And would recommend to any Star Wars fan. It is very expensive, however I think that adds to its exclusivity. It is a little flimsy and moving it does risk bricks moving and coming off. However once in place there’s nothing to worry about (it’s not as flimsy as the Eiffel Tower!)

I haven't finished it yet but I am really enjoying the set so far. It's massive and detailed my only problem with it is the price. I wish it was price to be more affordable! Now I know the extra cost has great deal to do with the license cost but still it would be nice if these large sets were more affordable

This is the first Lego set I've ever encountered that was designed with such poor structural integrity that building it was an absolute nightmare. It was hanging together by a thread until I moved it to its intended final display location, whereupon piece after piece kept falling off. I'm very disappointed in the Lego designers for this one. There simply is no reason for the lack of structural integrity that permeates the entire product.
Bitter disappointment

Was really excited to finally get this set and I have to admit that it is a really impressively sized set. The way the parts are organised in the box is great and the instructions were straight forward. Unfortunately, that is where the positive ends. It is quite a boring build as it is all very repetitive. It also is needlessly flimsy. As you try to put one part on, other bits fall off. Even when complete, bits kept falling off as I tried to move it to where I intended to display it. The legs do not work well and almost gave way at several points. This was bad enough for me to remove it from display as I do not trust it to remain upright. Overall a bitter disappointment, a waste of money and I seriously regret buying it.
