R2-D2 has been bought as a Christmas gift for my Grandson, so we will see in due course how he gets on. When he was small, we made LEGO models together but now as an expert 12-year old, I sometimes slow him down! Thankfully, LEGO build instructions are very good and as a (Retired) Engineer, only wish that operation and maintenance manuals with which I was familiar, were as good!

I got this back in August 2023, as an anniversary present from my Fiancé, whilst visiting our local Lego shop. I seen this set is going to retire by this end of the year and I think it deserves a nice review. I remember I enjoyed the built and it holds a well deserved display spot in our living room. This year he got reunited with his fellow droid C-3PO. Best droid in the galaxy!

This was the first large set I ever built, despite this I didn’t have any mistakes in the building process and found it quite enjoyable. At first I didn’t love it as much as I do now, but it has significantly grown on me and now is easily my favorite set I own.

I loved building this set. This was the first large set (pieces in the thousands) I have ever built. It was a fun challenge that was entirely worth it and worth the money. I have it displayed on my bookshelf, and it looks great with the other Star Wars pieces I have.

Although a fairly complicated build, the instructions were easy to follow. I wasn't sure for a while that all of the interior construction was correct, but when I finished, everything worked. I guess I did it right. It was a little bigger than I'd expected, but it's very sturdy.
