The marvel modulars have been nothing short of fantastic (wink wink nudge nudge cough cough Baxter building). but this set just doesn't fully meet the standard of these sets. The daily bugle was one of the best Lego sets of its time and was just mind-blowing. it only made sence to follow it up with another set a year later - the sanctum, which was also absolutely amazing. then following it up with arguably the best Lego building of all time, the avengers tower, really cemented this series of modulars as a fan favorite. the X-mansion, however, barely reaches the standards of these sets. its attrociously over-priced, the Minifigures are rather lack luster, and the set is rather... small. It feels like the set went through some last minute changes. especially when it comes to height. it feels like a third floor was definitely meant to be there. one of the elevators has the word "lab floor one" written on it. which would indicate there would be a "lab floor two". in the instructions, it mentions there being a kitchen in the set, which definitely isn't there. the design of the building in the shows and movies also indicates a third floor, and some of the key rooms from the building are missing. definitely feels like there was originally a third floor before budget cuts were made or something. Though things aren't all bad, the set has some great action peices, and the techniques throughout the build are very well done. its also rather fun to build. And it doesn't look next to the other marvel modulars. (in which I own all of them). so overall, huge flaws, but still manages to be a pretty decent set to get for your collection. I would definitely recommend it if you are into the marvel modulars, or into X-men in general. also, having a wide modular like this one with a sky scraper would be awesome. fisk towers comes to mind especially.

This is the first set that I have been very disappointed in. I opened the box, come to find out that I had not only one bag that was already opened but I had TWO bags that were already opened. I get to bag 22, so close to being done with the set but of course I’m missing a piece. The frustration and disappointment I feel is ridiculous, especially after the price you have to pay for this set.

Unless you're a die-hard, stone cold marvel geek pass on this set. Half the time building items you will never see, unless you fit the description above.

I love this set because it has a lot of small details from a lot of the X-men lore. It's not a hard build but it is a big build. If you don't love doing stickers I don't recommend this build it has a lot of stickers.

I love the X-Men and want more sets. I am a fan of the module system in the set and the minifigures are great. However, I was tempted to not buy this because the price is off to me. The building is not that big and does not fit to well next to the other Marvel modulars like it was intended, even though source material says its upstate New York, this set was designed with the pin connection system. I understand this is a licensed theme, but Marvel really wants their money and unfortunately Lego X-Mansion is byproduct of that.

Lego is almost always getting some degree of hate, but never from me. Until now. This set made me sad and angry. There are 3093 pieces in this set, many, MANY of which are actually just filler. One would expect quality bricks in this set of a building, but one would be wrong. Instead, there are 50+ pieces of 1x1 pieces that you have to mush together to get anything. To build the corners of the mansion's building sections, you don't get the regular corner pieces or many solid pieces - you have to painstakingly piece together the 1x1 & 1x2 plate pieces to 'layer' the build. Who has the time to align each of those? You think that's fun? SO many dinky building pieces. For the cost, you would think there would be a few pieces of the mansion gardens to set the scene. You'd be wrong. Best part of the set are the minifigures and the gear to pose them - the mansion is just the backdrop. What a waste of a fantastic opportunity. For the first time, as a lifelong Lego enjoyer, I am disappointed.

Disappointing, to say the least

As a big fan of Lego modular buildings and X-Men, I was extremely excited for this set when it was announced, so it was a day one purchase. Like many, I was disappointed by the size when the images were released, however I hoped the build experience would exceed those expectations. Unfortunately the build experience on this one is dull, repetitive, and has many rather flimsy sections compared to the typical modular building experience. Lots of small pieces that feel unnecessarily added and eat up some of the already minimal (for the cost) piece count. To say the building is tiny is an understatement. It would have taken a minimal increase in piece count to increase the height or depth to something that felt like a set of this cost and piece count, and fit next to other modular sets as intended. It is packed full of detail. That is, quite literally packed, leaving almost no room for anything else. It feels like a big shell for easter eggs, which usually come in the form of a sticker placed somewhere. The references felt more like cheap call outs than actual references.

I loved this set from the beginning, every detail and easter eggs. I agree with some hobbyists about the size but honestly it has the most important elements that a X mansion could have and it definitely refers to the comics version of the X-Men, not the movies one but the OG.

Good build but definitely not worth the price. I feel there could have been better x-men related play features. Additionally I’m not a fan of the floating debris/damage concepts. Lastly, yet again, I found two instruction booklet mistakes (pics attached). This is a common occurrence the past few years, what in the dei is going on lol.

Way too small for price

As many have stated before me, this is an extremely small set. My fears were initiated when I saw the three mini-base plates, and was further confirmed when I finished the first book. The exterior looks good. The Sentinel is an excellent model. The interior is horrible. It is way too small. As usual with Lego these days, they take a 24(?) stud length base and the house uses about 1/2 of that length. The rest is the front yard and 4 studs in the back, because....why? This is a practice they have been using with the modular buildings for years now and it is frustrating in it's lack of optimizing the space. So, while the Danger Room is two stories, the interior space is roughly 7 x 7, where with better use of the space provided could have easily expanded to 10 x 10 or larger. The Easter eggs are neat, and there are some new building techniques that I'll use on my MOC's, but the experience of this build is generally not fun.

While building this there was hidden easter eggs! Very enjoyable build. My kids loved it. I bought the more detailed Wolverine minifigure and Beast minifigure as well to complete the collection. Plus additional minifigures and one more Sentinel.

I was super excited when I saw this set get announced, and I bought it as soon as I could. I am a huge fan of X-men, having watched the movies and cartoons, even owning some of the comics. I love the amount of detail in the set, and building the set was one of the most enjoyable experiences I've had building Legos. Reading some of the other reviews, I know some complained about putting the stickers on, but I think that just makes the set more enjoyable it even comes with extra stickers, which I find nice. I do really like this set, but I do wish I came with Beast rather than Iceman, as he isn't in the cartoons or movies as often.

Oh, my stars and garters! This school for gifted children is tiny, like the student’s gift better be shrinking, because Lego Xavier must not have the budget for adequate room and board. Even the training facilities are grossly inadequate. The danger room is more like a danger closet. Lego Xavier’s budget cuts seem to have trickled down to the uniforms as well. Poor Wolverine looks like a cheap knock-off of the version in the last Marvel CMF series. And where are everyone’s pants? For the price of this thing one would expect some dual-molded legs, maybe some leg printing, but I guess I expected too much from a premium set.

This set is a great homage to the X-men. It is amazingly detailed with many small references to the animated show from the 90s. The minifigures selection is great and they all look really well done. Gambit is my personal favorite. It would have been nice to get Cable with this set though. My only criticism is the mansion should have been a bit larger. Everything inside is a bit to crammed together and I think an two more room areas would have made it better.
