I got into reading like five-six months ago and a while back, I decided to read this book. I’m a person that gives five stars somewhat often, but when I tell you this book is actually worth the five star, I mean it. For the people on tt and other socials saying this book has no plot, I can’t really see how it doesn’t. It’s very much similar to Fourth Wing (a current read of mine) and Powerless (I also have a review on Powerless!). If you want to be kicking your feet in the air and be left jaw dropped, then this is a good read! Out of 🌶️ this is probably a 1-1.5/5 because they’re are a few scenes in the book that could be/kinda is inappropriate. (SPOILER) Isla (the main character) goes to her bedroom and get greeted by Grim (a side-ish main character), she’s like “wtf leave” and Grim says that he didn’t expect they’re time in the bedroom to be like this. Btw she was abt to take off her dress, so Grims like “let me help you.” So he does, and then disappears. Another one would be where Grim takes off Islas clothing and presses her against the glass window in the castle which is in the forest. And he goes ham on her 🍒. BUT! The second book is even more heated and jaw dropping! Literally!!! Reminder that this is a YA series so even though there is spice in the second one (just a little bit) don’t expect too much. Happy reading!!!!

Honestly I could never read fantasy before and I tested out ACOTR, Dune, Fourth Wing and couldn’t get into it but THIS IS SO EXCELLENT! Finally a protagonist that doesn’t get on your nerves and a story that is clear but full of adventure and detail I love it so much!
Loved it

Beautifully written. This is one of those books where you wish you could read it for the first time again.
