The 8+ age rating is a guideline for parents to use in deciding if the pottery wheel is age appropriate for their child. Certainly younger children can use the Mini Pottery Wheel to test and develop their skills with practice and adult supervision.

My daughter was so excited when she received this pottery wheel! However, it has caused nothing but frustration. It starts shaking uncontrollably and falls apart within minutes of using. Definitely do not recommend.

My seven year old loves this. It comes with good instructions and video links that teach how to use it pretty well. The small scale size made it easy for her to learn how the clay works and if she made a mistake it was easy enough for her to reset and try again. After the first project she could do everything completely on her own. The guide to perfectly center the clay is a huge help for a novice. I have little to no experience with pottery wheels and I had fun with it as well. As a result she’s learned a lot of elementary pottery skills. She learned to use the sponge to smooth the clay and to go slowly with the tools to take little bits off so it’s not rough and jagged. It doesn’t come with a ton of clay. Maybe enough for about six projects but that sort of clay is easy enough to pick up at any craft store.

This pottery wheel was amazing! I’m a nanny and I bought it for my 10 year old for Christmas. She loved it, and it was super simple to set up and use. It was mess-free as well. Overall, I highly recommend it.

Finally a true no mess pottery kit! I have tried several different brands and have yet to find one that is actually mess free and easy to use. I am so impressed with this mini pottery studio. The air dry clay is a great idea and the pottery wheel itself is a lot quieter than others I have tried. With the option to leave the dome on or free hand this is great even with children at different ages. We saw this item on the Today show and after trying I know what I am getting several family members for Christmas!
