Description
The Master Lock 142DCM Covered Aluminum Keyed Padlock features a 1-9/16 in. (40mm) wide black vinyl covered body for scratch and corrosion resistance. The 1/4 in. (6mm) diameter shackle is 7/8 in. (22mm) long and made of hardened steel, offering extra resistance to cutting and sawing. The 4-pin cylinder prevents picking and the dual locking levers provide resistance against prying and hammering. Q: Are the keys universally used for other models like this , or are these keys for this particular lock only, and cannot be used universally among the same model?

A: Keys, by nature, will never 1 to 1 unique to any lock. Master Lock uses hundreds of key codes in the manufacturing of our locks, to ensure they are spread across skus/geographies/etc. There is a chance a key works on this lock somewhere else, but it is needle in haystack type stuff.

Bought it for myself as a new challenge as a beginner at the art of lock picking. The claims that it is pick resistant at all are completely untrue, as even a novice such as myself was able to open it. For securing things, such as a gym locker or gym bag, I really wouldn't recommend it if you believe that your items are at risk. Certainly don't use this if you have expensive items. That being said, for the price, you get what you pay for, and the very light weight makes ot very convenient to carry around.

This padlock is very lightweight, which makes me think if someone really wanted to break it, it wouldn't be too difficult. It just feels very cheap not high quality. Next time I'll but a sturdier one.

Very misleading photo. We needed 50 locks, so ordered 25 sets of 2 locks. Most of the locks came in single packages with only 3 coming in the double pack showed in the picture. So never got 50. Sending them back!
