Only says “Hi, hello” the letters don’t work! Very upsetting

Here are a few important details to know about our sound puzzles: They’re light-activated, and once new batteries have been installed, it’s best to use the puzzle in a brightly lit room. When you remove a puzzle piece from the board, you’ll see a little circle, which is the light sensor. Depending on the style, once the sensor has been exposed to light, you’ll hear the sound OR when you place the puzzle piece back on the board. If playing with your puzzle in a well-lit room does not make each piece “sound off” consistently, please give us a call at 800 284 3948 and we'll be more than happy to help you. Please have the puzzle nearby when you call so that we can get some information from the puzzle itself. Thanks so much for supporting our company. We look forward to speaking with you soon! I was very excited to get this Ms. Rachel alphabet wooden puzzle because my toddler kids loves Miss Rachel shows. The fact that it can do the alphabet sounds with Ms. Rachel is a very great educational toy. However, when I opened the package I noticed the board has hole on its sides (i guess some flaws, but I was happy with the features). Moreover, not even 2 weeks some of the alphabets starting to get splinters on them, which is not very safe for little kids. One of my alphabet is falling apart already and I noticed the front board also start to peeled. I was expecting a much better quality for $29.99 toy. Now I am debating whether to keep this or to return. I love the concept, but really dislike the quality of the wood used. Melissa and Dough please do better with your quality control and wood quality used.

Cute but I don’t understand why the letters only make sound when they are removed instead of placed in the correct place. It’s counterintuitive to learning the letters in my opinion. Why would you only hear the letter name, sound, word when removing the puzzle piece?? Maybe I’m missing something or have a faulty one, bc my 2 year old knows all the states and capitals thanks to another Melissa and Doug sound puzzle but cannot get letters. I do love Ms Rachel, she is a wonderful human being and I will always support her. I also love Melissa and doug.

Cute puzzle! But I don’t like that you have to lift the letter for it to say something, wish it would say something when put the letter in! Returning!

Doesn’t come with batteries. Some of the letters are the same shape, which may be no big deal, but for a older kid learning a puzzle, but for the youngest shape is important. they could mix up the letters instead of learning them in proper order. And, the sound happens when you take the piece out vs when you put it in, which is also a visual matching thing that doesn’t make the most ideal sense. For Melissa and Doug price, it’s just sub par.

Half of the letters do not work. Then the other half the do work go off when you are placing letters down next to them. Don’t waste your money on this, I wish I read the reviews before buying.

I understand this puzzle only works in daylight but it randomly goes off. My daughter will leave it in a spot and you can hear it going off on it’s own. The sensors are just too sensitive.
Does not work as advertised

95% of the time, no sound is heard when piece is placed in correct space. Tried 3 sets of fresh batteries just in case that was the cause. Also, random sound will occur when not even close to that space. Example: put letter F piece in its place, but the sound is for letter P. Very disappointed. Was hoping that the Melissa and Doug brand along with Miss Rachel could be counted on for quality. Will return and probably try another one in case this was a one-off.

The Ms. Rachel Alphabet Puzzle is a fantastic concept, combining learning with interactive fun. My little one loves Ms. Rachel, so this was a must-have. The idea of associating letters with sounds and music is brilliant. However, there are some significant design flaws that hold it back. The sensors on the letters are *way* too sensitive. Even if you're just trying to maneuver one letter into its spot, if it gets *close* to another letter's sensor, that other letter will trigger and start playing its sound. This makes for a very chaotic and often frustrating experience, especially for younger toddlers who are still developing their fine motor skills. It disrupts the intended learning process and can be overwhelming. If the sensitivity of the sensors could be adjusted, or perhaps if they only activated when firmly placed in their designated spot, this puzzle would be a real winner. As it stands, it's a good idea that needs some serious tweaking to live up to its potential.

My LO loves Ms Rachel. I love the idea of this puzzle but the sounds for the letters are so inconsistent. We have had this for less than a week, more than half the time it doesn’t make a sound when you move the letters and the other times it says a different letter than the one you use. Not worth $30.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had the wonderful opportunity to get to try the Ms Rachel Wooden phonics alphabet sound puzzle complimentary in exchange for my honest review. I have to say my nephew loved it! He plays with it all the time and he learned his alphabet very quickly. This is a great product and honestly the schools should have it for kids to learn with! It helps them have hands on as well as sounds when learning the letters! To me it’s a must have!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The puzzle feels like very nice quality with sturdy wood and vibrant colors. Our toddler struggled with independent play as letters/letter sounds are still new to him. With our help he was much more interested and I am sure he will become more interested as he gets older/more confident. The sound wasn’t too loud but was clear!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We received this product to review and gave it to my 18 month old daughter. The puzzle says it’s for 0+ but the first thing was there wasn’t any batteries so my kid was losing her mind while I tried to scramble to find some. Then, the puzzle seems a little glitchy as the letters don’t always work when you lift them and sometimes other letters that aren’t lifted work. So that’s not great. I do like that the letters give phonetic sounds which is nice. My daughter likes the puzzle well enough. I like that you can turn off the noises too. For me I’m concerned that it’s Miss Rachel themed as we don’t support her because of her indoctrinating of children. But if you like her then you might as well give this puzzle a try.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Ms. Rachel's Phonics alphabet sound puzzle is a big hit with my toddler! My son is 2 1/2, and learning letters so this brightly colored wooden puzzle is perfect to help him also learn the sounds. Each letter says the name of the letter and sound when it is placed in its spot on the puzzle. The puzzle does require batteries if you want to hear Ms Rachel say the letter and sound. Each letter is lightweight and easy for small fingers to grasp. Even after he dropped it, the puzzle appears to be durable and will last until my infant daughter is old enough to play with it too.
