Q: Does it require the coins to be inserted for the buttons to work? Because right now, my kids are just pressing the buttons and it dispenses the snacks without requiring the coins or credit card.

A: Hi! The coins are not required to operate the vending machine. They just add to to the fun!

We were so excited for this toy but it is completely overrated and overpriced. The coins do nothing. The food comes out regardless of putting the coins in. The food falls out with a little bump. The wooden machine is not very sturdy at all. Littles will knock it down with little effort. :(

This toy is not only fun for my son (2yrs old) but for us as well! Haha it helps him learn how to correspond numbers, letters, and colors to the correct item. My ONLY suggestion for improvement would be something that keeps the snack in place when you’re not selecting it. Any movement to the vending machine easily tips a bunch of the snacks over.
A little disappointed…

Not quite as expected. You have to fill it from the back, so you have to keep it in the “middle” of the room for play… and then it tips over backwards The credit card is so hard to fit in the slot to get the coins out The back does not close without lifting up the door in the back as it’s not fitted correctly…

Quality: Visible wood pulp. Unfinished surface. Coin slots sometimes jam. Design: Easily topples when items are inserted.

This toy is so cute, my child LOVES it. It works just like a vending machine with coins and a plastic credit card. It's easy to use and even more fun to play with.
Best. Product. Yet!

As a former teacher and current Grandma nanny, this vending machine was well worth the wait (and cost!). Melissa and Doug are always exceptional, but this one takes the cake! It keeps the attention of my 2.5yo grandson, and there are so many teaching moments! So many features! Double sided items; so much color; so easy for him to work!
Love it!

Our son (2.5yo) loves this and has been honing his sharing and imaginary play skills. He also figured out he could put real snacks in little containers and put them in the vending machine to dispense.
Lots of fun.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My children love playing with their wooden vending machine. My son especially is a little rough with his toys but the wood its made of is so durable that im sure it will last. I have never seen a wooden toy mimic a real life electronic so well and give off a realistic feel as you play. Im sure this has become my sons new favorite toy that he will play with again and again.
It’s so much fun!

I saw this a while ago and knew I had to have it. I put different things in it and use it as a prize box when for good things.
Decent toy

Definitely a cute item! Best suited for a 2-3 year old. My only criticism is if the vending machine itself is bumped or knocked into everything in it falls over.

Super Cute - 1 year ago, Verified purchaser
My kids age range 1,7, &12. All three kids thought this was a super cool item and enjoy using it daily. The 1 year old loves this item. The snack machine has alot of neat features. I enjoy how the different size coins fit for different level snacks. The coins fall to the bottom. The faux food is so cute. you must pack them in correctly so that they fall the way you prefer. Each row has its own color coin to use for that row. It will not work with any other row. I would definitely reccommend this item and even purchase again in the future. The price is on a little high but guess what. This snack machine lives upp to the hype and it is definitely worth the price. it is very well made and would likely last for years and years depending on the kids.
Not quite functional enough

You don’t need to put in coins to select items, you can only stock one item at a time. Colorful, and high quality, just not functional enough.

I got this on clearance for $40 since originally $80 seemed too high. I would agree with others about functionality is not the same as actual vending machine. I had thought to squeeze food toy between clip and front edge but realized my mistake. It is more pusher on ledge where item can fall backwards. My set was complete but noticed others on shelf with damaged packaging. Son loves playing it and it is quite huge to my wife and me. Pretty heavy but our 4 year old has us carry it around. So there is the safety factor which needs to be considered. My son has also added his own taste with rubber duckies, small books, McDonald’s squishmallows, and covered windows with gift boxes for blind surprises. The options are endless with your kids imagination.

This toy should be marketed for much older children because it is incredibly heavy and falls over with the slightest touch. My kids have been injured from this thing several times. It’s going to be donated at this point.

Like others have mentioned - it’s a cute toy but just not functional. If you bump it, all the snacks fall down. Honestly it’s frustrating. The coins don’t seem to fit in the slots and the credit card doesn’t really do anything.. I think it’s way over priced for what it really does.

To start, yes, stuff falls easily if bumped. It's more frustrating for me since little thinks it's funny. However, this keeps his attention for hours. Between hitting buttons and pretending to eat/drink, he's fascinated. I wish more of a selection was sent because we've lost a few pieces that he really loves. They'll turn up so I'm not overly concerned. Allows use of items not included which is good with missing items. As for age appeal, my 2 year old (removed small parts) and his 6 year old cousin, as well as 12-18 year old cousins love this. I think it's neat myself.
Quality pieces, fun for all ages

I bought this for my 16 month old, 3 year old and 6 year old. They are all having a blast playing with it. The pieces do fall out easily if knocked but we haven't had any meltdowns because of it but it is why I'm giving it 4 stars.. my 6 year old discovered other good pieces for which makes her ecstatic. Great for imaginary play and pretend. I've never seen a toy vending machine so this one is fun! We got it on clearance and would definitely buy again
