Description

Join intergalactic bounty hunter Samus Aran in her first new 2D Metroid story in 19 years

Samus’ story continues after the events of the Metroid™ Fusion game when she descends upon planet ZDR to investigate a mysterious transmission sent to the Galactic Federation. After a harrowing encounter with a living Chozo—a race previously thought to be extinct—she ends up deep below the surface of the planet. The remote world has become overrun by vicious alien lifeforms and chilling mechanical menaces. Samus is more agile and capable than ever, but can she overcome the inhuman threats stalking the depths of ZDR?

Face off against unrelenting E.M.M.I. robots
Once DNA-extracting research machines, the imposing E.M.M.I. are now hunting Samus. Tensions are high as you evade these E.M.M.I. to avoid a cruel death while finding a way to take them down. Find out what turned these robotic wonders into the scourge of ZDR and escape with your life.

Feel Samus’ power grow as you gain maneuvers and abilities
Parkour over obstacles, slide through tight spaces, counter enemies, and battle your way through a dangerous world. You’ll acquire new and familiar abilities as you traverse the many environments of ZDR. Blast multiple targets with the new Storm Missile or use the Speed Booster to dash and break through walls. Return to areas and use your new abilities to find upgrades, alternate paths, and a way forward. Explore the sprawling map, evade and destroy E.M.M.I. robots, and overcome the dread plaguing ZDR.

New modes let you ease into ZDR, experience true dread, or take on a boss gauntlet
If this is your first time sprinting and shooting as Samus, the new Rookie Mode increases health gained from items and decreases damage from bosses. Bounty Hunters looking for a true challenge can face the new Dread Mode, which can be unlocked if the Hard Mode is finished. Complete the game to unlock Boss Rush* and fight Samus’ most formidable foes one-after-another to try to get the best time possible!

A new Samus amiibo™ figure featuring her suit from Metroid Dread and an E.M.M.I. amiibo figure are available in a 2-pack set. Scan the Samus amiibo for an extra energy tank to increase your health by 100; additionally, the Samus amiibo can be tapped again to receive health once per day. The E.M.M.I. amiibo grants Samus a Missile Plus tank, increasing her missile capacity by 10; additionally, the E.M.M.I. amiibo can be tapped again to replenish some missiles once per day.

It’s hard and super scary to play in my opinion. I gave it two stars cuz the graphics are good.

So, I'm picky about videogames. This one was WAYYYYY above my standards. Awesome story, great graphics, and loyal to lore (comics included). Awesome gift for any Metroid fan. (I didn't get this game off of Target but I got it for Christmas)

The shinespark controls and boss fights ruined the game for me.

Shinespark controls overlap with jump making many of the puzzles stupidly hard and extremely frustrating. Overall, the mechanic is ridiculously complicated and not even fully explained. With boss fights, I ended up dying at least 10 times on each one, having to eventually use a video tutorial EVERY time. The dodge timing simply is not at all intuitive for these and the game does not let you practice your new abilities enough to be prepared. Other complaints: WAY too many unnecessary cutscenes (for example: one that you get to see a lot is watching Samus stand on a shuttle doing nothing for about a minute) and tips overexplain the easy parts and underexplain the hard parts of the game in general. For reference: I would rate Prime a 5/5 - fewer (more meaningful) and MUCH more enjoyable boss fights that you were mostly well prepared and practiced for, chill vibes, great controls, and minimal cutscenes (more actual gameplay and practically no repetitive explanations).
