Q: Is there a clear strip or semi-translucent body to see the gas level when filling?

submitted by Piloto - 3 years ago
  • A: Piloto, thank you for your question. There is no clear strip, but it does have a fill line. In the daylight you can see the gas through the plastic.

Q: Can the white screen in the inside be removed so that I can fill up the tank without spilling gasoline all over the place?

submitted by Jackson Junglist - 4 years ago
  • A: Jackson the white insert inside the container is the FMD (Flame Mitigation Device). This device is now EPA, CARB and ASTM standard on all containers sold in the United States. This device prevents sparks and open flames from entering the container during misuse. Any modifications to the container will void the warranty and remove all safety claims. We have many videos and help links on our website www.midwestcan.com that will address any filling issues.

Not sure why the bad reviews. You just need common sense. I just used this can for the first time in my life. I watched a video on YouTube for directions and I read the instructional sticker this can came with. Easy peasy. No mess anywhere. The nozzle at the gas station does drip so be careful with that. And only fill the can while it sits on the ground. Thanks Target for having these in stock.

ALL THIS THING DOES IS CREATE FRUSTRATION. THE NOZZLE DOESNT WORK, YOU CAN TIGHTEN THE CAP AS HARD AS POSSIBLE AND YOU WILL STILL GET SPILLS. SOME OF IT SPILT ON MY CAR INTERIOR AND NOW MY CAR HAS A STRONG GAS SMELL THANKS TO THE LEAKAGE. PLEASE BUY A DIFFERENT CAN IF I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS I WOULD.

Nozzle is hard to work with, the mesh inside the can forces you to fill it slowly (it will stop the pump if you fill with full speed). But those are not the worst of it. There is no gasket to seal the closure so no matter how hard you screw the nozzle back to the can it leaks gas when you try to use it. Don’t waste your time and money and save yourself from frustration. Horrible product!

This new "safety" nozzle is a huge inconvenience for older cars. I have a 1990 and cannot fill up the tank because its to deep and that "safety" button keeps getting hit. Needless to say I'm not pleased with this new feature

Horrible. Gas splashed out Difficult to fill and/or use.
1 reply from Midwest Can Support team - 3 years ago
Thank you for your review. Some gas stations fill at very high rates and if you try to fill any container using full pressure you will get splash back. Please gradually squeeze the handle at the gas station until you find a speed at which this does not occur. We also have a video online showing how to properly fill at high flow stations - https://youtu.be/mIc1TD6c7Ig

It takes a pretty firm press to click the safety then push in the spring mounted nozzle to get gas to flow, so if its a mower it is a two handed job just to get gas to flow. It is designed to not let fuel vapor out even with the spout out. I usually reverse it and close for security so that means I will get gas on my hands every time.
