About this item
Highlights
- Sound Quality: This is no hybrid amplifier with a solid state power amplifier hiding behind the tube preamp stage! It uses four EL84 tubes for power and three 6N3 tubes for the preamplifier stage, giving it a level of warmth and sound quality that can only be obtained by a pure tube amplifier. After all, life is too short for audio products that don't sound great! Retro Styling: The matte brushed aluminum face, lighted VU meter, and the warm glow of the exposed tubes combine to give this amp a sexy appearance that is at once both classic and futuristic. It is the perfect addition to any office, bedroom, or other small to medium sized rooms. Versatile: Enjoy your music the way you want! Use the stereo RCA jacks to connect directly to a CD player, connect your smartphone wirelessly via Bluetooth, or go completely old school and hook up a turntable to the phono inputs. Add a subwoofer by connecting to the RCA preamp outputs for even more room shaking sound. The Qualcomm aptX audio codec ensures that your wireless streaming sounds as clean and clear as your wiredconnections.
- Because of its lossy nature, digital music can often lose some of the depth and warmth that gives it life. Wireless streaming adds an additional layer of digital compression, which can further degrade the audio quality. The addition of tube preamplifier and power amplifier stages adds back some of the warmth and richness, breathing new life into your digital music, while the Qualcomm aptX audio codec ensures clean and clear Bluetooth streaming.
- The Pure Tube Amplifier supports the following features: 10 watts/channel. 1% total harmonic distortion. Qualcomm aptX audio codec for clean and clear wireless streaming. 20Hz - 20kHz frequency response. Tube preamplifier stage with Tube power output stage. Bluetooth v4.0 wireless streaming. One stereo analog RCA input. One stereo phono RCA input. 5-way binding post speaker connections.
- The black panels, lighted VU meter, and the warm glow of the exposed tubes present a retro look, which enhances any home or office environment with that hint of old school styling.
- This all-tube power amplifier has all the features to meet the needs of today's music enthusiasts!

Absolutely love this amp for the price. Sounds incredible, looks incredible. Volume is more than sufficient for my small listening area. Running a Fluance turnable directly into the phono inputs and the sound is clean with no hum or distortion. A+.

I am very pleased with this amp. It sounds much better than I expected. I see no reason to spend thousands on another tube amp because this is so good. I am using LSA Signature 80 speakers that were $1,200 that is an incredible match.

A noisy buzz and hum appeared every time the amplifier was turned on. The noise disappears after 10 minutes if the volume was placed somewhere between "4" to "8", but stayed when the volume was low.
Constant 60 Hz Hum.

The price on this amp turned out to be way too good to be true. The sound of the amplifier was absolutely phenomenal. The build quality was quite good as well. The one and only issue was a constant 60 Hz hum. The amp hummed no matter what electrical outlet I plugged it into. The amp hummed constantly even without any sources connected to it. It's a shame, I had to call Monoprice and ask for an RMA. I read way too many other reviews where the reviewer complained of the same problem. It's a real shame. The quality control is awful on such a nice pure tube amplifier. I bought this because my Dayton tube amplifier is a hybrid. I wanted a full tube amp. The Dayton worked flawlessly, I just wanted to go pure tube.

What to say about the experience with this product? I am currently on the third unit, the previous two having been sent back because 1) An extremely loud buzz that didn't go away making it impossible to listen to music at low volumes; 2) The second unit would randomly stop playing through the left channel. This third unit has a very loud buzz when first turning on, then it goes away. When I turn the volume up, the buzz returns and then goes away quickly. There is a hum around 50 dB when nothing is being played. I have gotten tired enough of sending these units back that I guess I will count myself lucky that at least this unit works. For the price, I suppose you can expect some problems. But the quality control seems to be a real issue. That and the boxes come FedEx with no Fragile sticker on them and are generally pretty banged up, so it's no wonder there are issues with these quite fragile products. Sound is really lovely. A beautiful looking piece of kit. Would not recommend.

Baseline humming gets quieter over the first 30 min but never goes away and randomly gets louder. This is the second unit after I sent the first one back after overheating . Current unit works otherwise ok . 4 stars if there was no humming noise.

Cheap tubes. I replaced tubes with better quality tubes. Plays great now. Charge a little more to put a decent quality tube for better customer satisfaction.

Had my eye on this for a while and picked it up on an amazing Black Friday sale. While it?s still breaking in, I am impressed! Nice, warm tube sound and pinpoint imaging. Build quality seems very solid. No reason yet to roll the tubes, as the stock ones seem well-matched to each other and to the unit. The Bluetooth adapter is surprisingly good, although it really shines with a HiRez signal source attached, and that will be my primary connection. Haven?t tried the phono input. As long as you?ve got reasonably sensitive speakers (mine are 88dB), 10 watts per channel is more than enough. There a couple small things that I wish were there: an additional line level input and a headphone jack. But at sub-$300 all-in delivered price, this may the tube value steal of the year!
Disappointed

Right out of the box the left channel was playing loudly with volume all the way down. Sound bleeding from aux input into phono. Output from BT input was very low (yes, my source was all the way up). Returned.
Why isnt this thing more popular?

So this thing was $329 for ages, then it went 'on sale" when i bought one for $319....and now its on "sale sale' for $299, kinda bothers me, but not that much. The sound is super nice and tubealicious for this amp. I had been using a chifi douk audio $129 tube (preamp stage) amp with a solid state amp, but I wanted to try full tube amp. It has a very nice sweet sound. some people think highs and bass are rolled off with tube amps, and i guess its kinda true. There are tone knobs on the front if you wann change things around, but I have been satisfied with the sound for the most part.. I recently hooked up my sub to get the frequency response to 2022 bigger bass levels, and it was a nice combo...not sure why i didnt just try cranking the bass knob. This thing has no remote, so i set it on my desk to control volume, but those tubes get hot, so I had to move it away.If I was designing this thing, I would get rid of the bluetooth, and get rid of the silly VU meter on the front, and make it a few bucks cheaper., or maybe at least add a remote for volume. It feels well put together, although the rings around the tubes feel like they have edges that could potentiall cut your fingers if you try hard enough. Mine has a very low hum, only when no music is playing. It IS NOT a big deal, and doesnt affect the use of this thing in any way. For around $300, I dont think you could go wrong.
Great Tube Amplifier.

A very nice tube amplifier at a ridiculously low price. Plenty of power for my Klipsch KG2.2?s. I?d like another input and a remote, but at this price point it would not be possible.

Many years ago I assembled a couple of mono blocks from a division of Cary Audio-(SE811) which I have been enjoying ever since. As my LP collection grew, I start feeling that it would be a waist to use them to listen to internet or CD content. (the 811 tubes are not cheap and I already had to replace them). So I sent for the Monoprice pure tube stereo amp. as a cheap choice to listen to music source other than LPs. I was very surprised by the quality of the sound. Very open an enjoyable with a sense of natural presence. Are they as good as the mono blocks? Of course they are not. But without comparison, they will satisfy 100% a music lover. Some material in the internet is of very inferior quality but I found that some transmissions from WCRB from Boston carry very good sound as they use a mix of live, CD and LP material. As speakers, I am using the Visiton BG 20-8 full range with a little help of the Peerless XT 25SC90-04 in a transmission line configuration.

Already have Monoprice's other tube amplifiers and was curious about this one.Been searching for a dedicated phono preamp but decided that it would be a one trick pony,it could be only a phono preamp and nothing more. This amp has a built in phono stage along a amplifier stage and the added benefit of bluetooth connectivity. So it performs more than just a phono preamp. It's sale price was outstanding and well below the price it would have cost buying a separate phono preamp, dac, amplifier with bluetooth.Attractive vintage design brings out the wow factor for people who are not accustomed to seeing vintage tube amplifiers

This is my first tube amp. I've had it a little over a month now. I'm using it with a pair of Klipsch Forte IV speakers. I was very pleased with the output level of the amp. 1/4 on the volume dial is all I need, and I tend to listen to music loud. There IS a noticeable hum that is not is covered very well by the music. To be fair, my Audio-Technica Lp-120 stopped working before I used it with this amp, so I dug out a 1981 Technics SL-2 to use. The hum could be caused in part by my old turntable. The sound truly is warm and pleasing. Couple of things to note. This amp sounds better each time I've played it. Also, give the tubes some time to warm up. They definitely sound better 30 minutes in than 5 minutes in. I caught the amp at a great price, so I'm giving it 5 stars. Sounds good and is a good value. Darrell
I wanted it to work, but it did not, very disappointed.

I had to send item back for refund, rca input not functioning correctly after changing out rca cable for my cd player. Sounds good for the price, bad quality control on assembly from my experience..

First one the power unit (not one of the tubes, the whole power pack) exploded during play. I returned it, and the second one has a dead socket (I tried replacing the tube, no dice). Sounds lovely when it works.

I?ve been a mid-fi guy for ages and have owned tons of stereo/hi-fi components from the 70?s to present day. I built Dynaco kits way back, but never had tubes? I have never written a product review. I bought the Pure Tube Stereo Amp with plenty of reservations but it was on sale and I thought worth a try. After a month I can tell you that I am very, very, pleased with the amp. Paired with a Sony turntable from the late 70?s running Ortofon blue and Audio Technica ML 540 cartridges into Bowers and Wilkens CM8?s and an SVS 2000 sub, it is superb! It absolutely kills my Integra AVR on 2.1 and also is superior to my SAE/Nikko preamp/amp setup from the 80?s. The most stunning thing to me is the depth and width of the soundstage. It sounds almost 3D in my listening room. That was never the case with my other amps. Some people have observed that the amp is noisy and humms. My unit is dead quiet
