I bought this because of the great price, because it could fit under the couch and because I trusted the brand. My first challenge was that is did not really fit under the couch, but after moving some braces under there, I got it to fit. That's on me. But if you want to place it under the couch, make sure you have all the space you need under there. It is HUGE. Also, be aware that if you want to turn it on or off, make adjustments to the bass level or the crossover frequency, you have to pull it out from under there or, as was my case, lift up the couch, because the controls are UNDER the cabinet. Not convenient but again, it is as advertised. I never used the 'auto on' feature because it hummed when it was on standby, which drove me crazy. A high end smartplug and Google home fixed that. Once installed and adjusted, it sounded pretty good with my KEF LS50s and helped the low end quite a bit Then, shortly after the warranty expired, it dies: At first intermittently, hen it went altogether silent. The warranty is only good for 1 year, and mine went completely silent after 18 months. I contacted Monoprice, and they were no help at all. After a bit of back and forth, they told me it was a drive failure, that they could do nothing for me and they would not replace it because the warranty has expired. So it is a too bad, so sad answer. So I give them a BUYER BEWARE rating. They cannot ship me a new driver, did not identify a replacement part I could buy from them or elsewhere and could not even tell me what the impedance of the speaker is so I can look for a replacement. They offered me a 10% discount if I bought it again (whey would I do that?) which does not even cover shipping. So, the warranty stinks and the aftersales service is no better. I have lost confidence in this brand's electronic products, though I still find their wires and mounts very good.

Love monoprice but gotta rate this one low. Very few features, really gigantic (doesn't fit under any kind of furniture... maybe a table?), and it rattled for me as soon as I played anything through it. Just a miss!

The design is what it is, flat for convenience and to be hidden out of the way, which is what I used it for. It adds a bit of punch to my low wattage tube amp (also monoprice) and Klipsch 600m v2 spearkers. I could live without this sub but it does add texture and quality on bass heavy audio. Recommended with reasonable expectations.

When setting this up with my AVR, one of the first things I needed to do for the AVR to do its level-setting analysis (Audyssey) was adjust the speaker volume knob while a test tone is playing. But of course the knob is on the bottom of the unit where it's not accessible, and lifting the unit to gain access changes the perceived volume level (granted, very slightly), making it harder to adjust the volume accurately. The RCA jack for the signal input is in the same location, which means the cable immediately has to do a sharp 90 degree turn, to run parallel with the floor (or whatever surface this speaker gets set or mounted on). The jack also seems a tiny bit undersized, so the cable fits loosely (the cable itself fits fine on other RCA jacks). Finally, the first speaker I received was DOA. Fortunately, Monoprice's return process is convenient and easy, so I was able to receive my replacement reasonably quickly. Still, obviously it'd be nicer to not have to go through that at all. All that said, the subwoofer does perform as advertised. I set the crossover to the max frequency (150 Hz) and let the AVR decide where to actually balance this speaker with the others. The result seems perfect to me. The speaker fills in the bass just right, without being overbearing. And the form factor is great for my needs, a relatively small room for watching TV, with furniture crowded in and not much space left for a large speaker. For now it's on the floor, but I may well take advantage of the wall-mounting option (though, unfortunately, the wall mount brackets only support a horizontal "landscape" orientation...a vertical position would work better in my case, to provide better clearance for other furniture nearby). I would love to see at least the volume control moved to a more accessible location, if not an improvement to the input jack to allow the cable to fit more securely and with less strain on the cable. But once everything's set up, this speaker has worked fabulously.

So I purchased this to replace a pretty basic sub to complement my tv sound bar. I currently have 2 of the 13THX ultra subs for movie watching but I don?t always want to watch with everything on, or my kids will watch something and they want to just be able to run it on and go. Truthfully the pictures don?t do this unit justice. I ordered the 12in on and it is much larger than I was expecting? but that?s not a bad thing. The finish is kind of an orange peel textured surface that makes it look really clean and neat. I hooked this up using a ?y? splitter to both inputs, turned the crossover to about 80 and the volume most of the way up. Then I adjusted the levels in my tv. I was blown away by the output and thunderous sound this produced.. it almost felt like my larger subs were up an running. Playing demos like ?Dune?and ?Ready player one? you can hear where the super lows roll off below 20Hz unlike the 13THX ultras that get down to 10hz without batting an eye. This really is a killer sounding sub at an amazing price. Tuck it up under your couch you?ll never see it but boy! You?ll feel it !

i ordered this as a test to see if the flat design would be as powerful and discreet as advertised. if it was a dub, i was ready to ship it back for a traditional box. BUT it did NOT disappoint! in fact, it exceed my expectations by a stretch. if fits perfectly underneath my sofa and my 2.1 system is now perfectly rounded and complete. i?m an audio engineer by trade and if i know anything, it?s once you live with a subwoofer, you?ll never go without it. it?s like living in an apartment with a dishwasher or a washer dryer?there?s just no going back once you get to that new level. i?m buying another for the studio and wall-mounting it to the surface under my desk. perfect item, perfect price. worth waaaaayyyy more than what i paid. perfect.

We were able to slip this behind our entertainment center without sacrificing our floor space to a bulky box while still enjoying deep sounds when we want to hear them. We used the “B” bank stereo speaker output of our stereo, so we can hear just speakers when we want off “A” bank and both speakers and sub when we want off both “A” & “B” banks combined. We decide when sub woofer bass is appropriate.

Item arrived in good condition, the boxing was very protective. Listening has the enclosure presenting a fair amount of cabinet buzz. Closer exam has the driver not fully seated as well as the amp, tightened the screws improved but the area around the amp needed more internal bracing. I cut some MDF 0.5 cm square braces and glued them on three sides of the opening for the amp and added acoustic stuffing below the amp. Another concern is the low level hum from the amp when no music source is active. Overall a decent unit for the money.

I needed a subwoofer to add some low end sound to my kitchen ceiling speakers. I had limited options where I could place the speaker so that I could still connect it to my receiver. I debated getting the 10" but the cost (when I bought it) was negligible. I was able to use the floor stand brackets to stand this up by the shorter side which was perfect! The sound out of the speaker is just what I needed. I initially had it connected via the high connections then switched to an RCA cable. I'm finally happy with my kitchen sounds setup.

I was on the fence about the new slimline subs from Monoprice but my Martin-Logan sub died recently. Did I mention it's huge? Seriously review the overall specs on these slim subs, they are thinner than others but the length and width dimensions are still quite large, I think they need the space for everything the sub, the electronics and the porting. It's a complete package, THEY INCLUDE EVERYTHING RCA wires with 90 degree elbow connectors for close fitment, floor or wall mounts, they include wall brackets and a surprise vertical floor stands if you want it upright in the slim profile. Though I said this thing is big is it (okay much smaller than my 15" JBL sub from long ago). it does fit under a chair of ours well. The port on the back side is aimed towards my room corner and it works very well. I found it to have great response down to as low as 15Hz it trails off starting at 19Hz fading out below 15hz. Feel the airflow on the port at around 30Hz its fun (try a youtube subwoofer frequency test sweep video) I was skeptical of this unit so I stuck my ear to it and left it on the auto on mode and tried different things, I did notice the slightest hum when my ear is on the sub but when any noise whatsoever is coming out of my stereo you cannot tell, if you turn the sound off the hum goes away pretty quickly. I think this hum is a normal issue caused by higher efficiency D type amps, type A amps are ridiculous constant FULL power draw AB can be a little better for a lot of cost and D amps are fine for most of us! When the sub is placed facing down and in normal operation I cannot detect a hum. On standby there is no hum. I didn't see a phase or 180 phase switch anywhere, maybe I missed it? its my experience that they are useless anyway, I've never had a scenario where I needed one (yes I've tested this in the past) Anyway for the money and the excellent bass thump it's great. The packaging was neat, double boxed with an protective inner cardboard, be expecting some big boxes!
