Natural Instincts Clairol Demi-Permanent Hair Color Cream Kit - 3 Brown Black - 175ml

I used the Number 3 for about 10 years, and it was fantastic. However, since the formula changed, it no longer works for me. The color is now light-reddish, it doesn’t last, and the conditioner—once the best I’d ever used—has significantly declined in quality. Sadly, I’ve had to switch to another brand.

The new package isn't the same at all. I've been using this product for years, thru a previous package change, and always been satisfied. Now it looks and feels different, formula is thinner and cheaper. The conditioner is thinner and cheaper too, this I know for sure as I had a tube from the last (old style) box and the consistency is NOT the same comparing tubes. My hair normally looks amazing, shiny, is soft and manageable. Not the same results at all from new packaging. Drier, tangled, not as shiny. What ever you did to the formula is terrible, change it back!

I mix this with 5c to cover my 85-90% gray hair. (I'm assuming by root line.) I have near zero porosity which absolutely affects how much dye gets deposited and I have to leave it in for longer than average. The homebrew dual-tone pairs perfectly wirh my cool-undertone fair skin. I've used Natural Instincts for over 10 years now, slowly letting go of the auburn tones that stopped working once a certain amount of hair started graying out. My hair grows fast and I have to touch up once a month but I love the condition my hair is in after using the dye and conditioner.

I used Natural Instincts for many years and loved it, but I only recently tried the new ammonia free formula in 6.5 G, the color I've been using for gray root touchup, and something was terribly wrong. It had small beads of purple color throughout that simply wouldn't mix up properly. Having not used it before, I continued to follow instructions and wound up with hot roots that were distinctly pink!! I had to use a permanent hair color over the roots the next morning to try to mask that horrible pink. Now I have extra boxes of the Natural Instincts 6.5G left and am going to have to throw them away. I can't take the chance of pink roots again. This was a total waste of my money and time. Needless to say, I'm truly disappointed and now looking for another product to use at home.

I haven’t colored my hair in 10 years because I love my natural color but I was noticing a few more gray hairs and thought I would try this. Ugh ugh ugh my hair looks totally red and seems way more permanent than Demi. This is not going to was out when it lightened my hair!

Love this product. I used it many years ago, and I feel this formula is much improved. My hair is softer, shinier and has more body. It is more gentle on my hair. My only complaint is the viscosity. It's too thin and runny in my opinion. Otherwise, I would have given it 5 stars.

I have been a regular user of this product which I loved but feel something has changed in this formula. It doesn't cover greys as well as it use to and gives more of a red tint. It also causes my scalp to itch and finding my hair is falling out more. Does this now contain ppd as other sites claim it doesn't

Used this and it DID NOT cover the gray. I follwed directions and left in 5 extra minutes. Now I have to attend a Family Event with gray roots. So UNHAPPY

I have been using this formula for several years in between professional color, and I love it! The level 6 is a perfect match for me, blends most of my gray roots very well and doesn't feel too harsh on my scalp. With the demi color, I don't get the harsh demarcation. Color is fairly long-lasting, I get many compliments on my color, and I love the new packaging!

The new vegan formula is terrible. I used the 5G and it made my hair reddish, not brown. IT DOES NOT COVER THE GRAY AT ALL. My hair still has a line in it right after coloring it. My daughter even asked me what I had done to my hair. The new formula does not color properly.

I tried to go gray gracefully, but... Ugh. When you have those frizzy silver temples against long, warm brown natural hair, it wears on a girl. I tried permanent colors and they worked for a few washes but inevitably the gray was showing in no time and then my long hair was brassy. So I 'let it grow out' for the past few years until the brass is gone, but the grizzly gray remained... And it drove me crazy. I tried all the little touch-ups and other various temporary products that promised great gray coverage. They didn't work at all. I was beginning to believe that my Elvira silver temples were impossible to cover. Finally I decided to try this product. I hadn't heard great things about it, but... The price is right and its supposed to wash out eventually, so why not? Well it actually worked! The shade I chose (5A Med Brown) is a bit darker than my natural color but it looks pretty good all over. And my gray temples are no more. Now they just have a slightly sunkissed brunette appearance. How it is that this is the first product to actually cover them, when I tried plenty of permanent options, I have no idea. But my hair looks great. Its soft and healthy. Even the frizzy grizzies settled down, at least for now. Now, because my hair is very long, I wash it only about 3 times in a month. So the dye is staying true and beautifully rich so far. But I have been washing my hair this way for many years so it has acclimated. If you can stretch the time between washes, you're more likely to have to redye for root growth, rather than fading, but you will also have to live with the color longer. So you choose a good shade for you. Which is my only real gripe about Natural Instincts... Its difficult to differentiate between shades from the tiny little thumbnails that show the colors. I am looking for a slightly closer match to my natural shade but frankly they all look the same on my phone screen, so that is going to be tricky. Hopefully there is a handy color chart somewhere I just haven't found yet that will simplify the process. Regardless, I think I will be a customer for many years to come, so long as I keep passing my allergy test. And I am so grateful that I finally found an affordable solution to my ugly, weird Elvira hair. Thanks Natural Instincts!

I LOVE the product. It has no ammonia and totally covered my suborn gray hairs without staining my forehead in 30 minutes.

I had a few random brassy bits of hair from a previous dye job, and wanted my hair colour to be uniform again. 6A Light cool brown matched my hair colour perfectly! It was very gentle, no smell at all, covered my hair evenly, and felt very conditioned after. Don’t know how well it lasts cause I dyed it yesterday but really impressed so far.

Ive been using several different colors of this product for about 8 years and I absolutely love it!! I’m now using the 5R and love the rich color!! I love the smell it leaves on my hair! I call it my new hair smell!! PLEASE NEVER change this formula it’s the best!!!!!!

I got it a day ago and it said light brown. It was more like dark brown‼️‼️

Misleading…. This is NOT a semi-permanent colour. I am at the hairdressers & the colour will not bleach out like it should if it actually was semi-permanent.
