submitted byCrash - 7 years agoA: It's a liquid capsule, so you can't crush it. I have difficulty swallowing some things, but this goes down with no problem. That's why I get these and not tablets. Where I work, we use to poke holes in liquid caps and put the liquid down feeding tubes.

Been taking the original formula for a long time, finally ran out and bought this new formula within a week I was having major cramping in my intestines causing me extreme pain. I stopped taking the magnesium and have not had the issue since.

The color change threw me off since there was no warning on the label but a little research showed I had purchased the same thing I’d been purchasing for years. I’ve been taking the “new look, same product” for the last couple weeks and I’m not sure why they made the coating change but it seems to change the way the product is absorbed. This is not the same product and I’d be willing to pay more for the old one. Guess I’ll be shopping for a new magnesium supplement.

We have used this product for years and loved it. The recent changes now leaves us without being able to use due to the addition of soybean oil. Please go back to your old formula. Why did you have to change it anyways?

The new “red” magnesium 400 mg does not work like the old brown ones. I’m Joe having constipation that I’d didn’t have with the old “ brown” ones that contained rapeseed lecithin and no vegetable oils. My sister has noticed the difference as well! Please bring back the old ones, or we’ll have to try others brands!😒

I was alarmed when I opened my bottle and the protective covering slipped right off. It made me wonder if it had been tampered with, and then they were a different color! No warning on the bottle at all! I will not be taking these with my already fragile digestive state. Sad. These have been my go to for so many years.

I have been having a terrible GI problem for a week now. Could not figure out why. Forgot to take my vitamins this morning so I took them with dinner. HORRIBLE MISTAKE. I feel sick to my stomach and I don’t think dinner is going to stay down. The only thing that has changed is this supplement. It’s now clear to me why. I’m allergic to soy and this new product is covered in it. I sure wish I knew this!! Goodbye to a product I’ve used for 10 years!

Very disappointed that Nature Made changed the ingredients for this Magnesium. Not interested in soybean oil or added colors in my supplements. Will have to find a new go-to Magnesium supplement. Unfortunately, I bought a large bottle and it was a waste of money!

I really want to give you a zero. I bought you magnesium the other day and notice the new color. After 24 hours from taking them I had a horrible stomach ache I checked the ingredients and noticed you Carmine in them. Checked to see if anyone was having problems with the new color. Of course people are having problems. The horrible thing about this is that you did not warn anyone about the color change or ingredient you added. I bought two bottles what a waste of money and with no warning. I will not be purchasing anymore. I also made it very well known what you have done and let my friends know not to purchase them either. Very disappointed and angry.

Like others who commented here, I too was very concerned when I opened my latest bottle and noticed a drastic change in the color (and smell). It was very apparent that there was some kind of altering to the manufacturing process to cause such a change in appearance. Yet nowhere on the bottle was this disclosed, which I find quite troubling. This brings up major credibility issues with your company. Consumers shouldn’t be treated as mindless sheep who will simply accept without question whatever you choose to give them. After MANY years as a customer, I will likely be looking for another brand with a bit more integrity.

Been using this brand magnesium for over 10 years now but not any more. Seed oils now really?? With everything going on about them why would you think that was a good move. Also, with no warning. After having it one day I felt sick and now I know why since I have an intolerance to soybeans. Do better!

I've been taking these for years and all of a sudden they're RED. First, that's alarming. Second, the red coloring is from carmine, which is derived from the female body of INSECTS. No thank you. Why did your product team ruin a good thing? They totally missed the mark on this one. Are you listening to all these loyal customers writing reviews? I'll be switching brands now because I'm not going to ingest a product with insects daily.

I have been buying these and taking them daily for years. This latest bottle has pills that are now RED. Not only are they red, but the red coloring is from carmine. Know what carmine is, friends? It's made from the body of female INSECTS. Not only is the red color off-putting, but I most definitely do not want to ingest color derived from bugs daily. This seems to be a money decision. If not, then fire your development team because this change in color totally missed the mark. I will be switching brands after years of being a loyal customer. Listen to your reviewers, Nature Made and switch them back!
