Wanted this for an advent calendar where each mini drawer could hold candy but they all have a strong chemical smell to them. It might be the glue they used to put the small drawers together. Noticed the joints were stained with something so that was my guess. I appreciate the look of it, but I wouldn’t suggest putting anything edible inside of it. Even the pieces of candy I put in there smelled like it. Too bad, they fit those Lindt balls perfectly.

I was so bummed when I opened this tree. It was covered in dust on the outside and in each step on the inside of the tree, the paint on the back was chipping off in several places, and the parts look like they only got half painted. It is literally missing paint in several places. Hopefully mine is just defective because I can't believe this is being sold as "new" and by my favorite store, Target. I'm so disappointed.
