The Premium Rug Pad provides a firm foundation feel underfoot, while adding a nonskid layer between an area rug and your floor. Its low profile allows area rugs to lay flat to the floor, keeping them in place and making vacuuming easier. A rug pad is recommended to prevent slipping and to keep the rug lying flat in one place

If you prefer a looser fit, they’re easy to trim with scissors. Also, our new rug and pad have done a great job at making the room quieter.

I bought a pretty thin rug, and this was the recommended "premium" rug pad for it. I'm disappointed that it is much thinner than others I have bought in the past. I should have done more research, but if you are looking for cushion, this isn't the best one to use.

Would work with a thicker rug, however, with the washable rugs they are really thin and need thicker padding underneath.
