About the Book
Find out all you ever wanted to know about insects when the Cat in the Hat and company get an up-close view of life as a bug. Full color.Book Synopsis
Catch the bug buzz and learn all about insects with the Cat in the Hat--a perfect gift for little scientists on Earth Day and every day! The Cat in the Hat's Learning Library is a nonfiction picture book series that introduces beginning readers ages 5-8 to important basic concepts. Find out all you ever wanted to know about insects when the Cat in the Hat and friends get an up-close view of life as a bug. Kids will learn how insects -- from the spittlebug to the honeybee to the moth -- see, smell, communicate, and pollinate, as well as sometimes pester and amaze and generally make life better for us humans. Featuring beloved characters from Dr. Seuss's The Cat in the Hat, the Learning Library are unjacketed hardcover picture books that explore a range of nonfiction topics about the world we live in and include an index, glossary, and suggestions for further reading.Review Quotes
"There is a big gap between 'concept' books written for preschoolers and nonfiction that requires fluent reading skills. The Cat in the Hat's Learning Library books introduce beginning readers to important basic concepts about the natural world. They provide the critical foundations upon which complex facts and ideas can eventually be build. In addition, The Cat in the Hat's Learning Library shows young readers that books can be entertaining and educational at the same time. This is a wonderful series!"-- Barbara Kiefer, Associate Professor, Reading and Literature

As a retired Biology Teacher I was elated when my grandson went to a "Bug Camp" last summer. He really enjoyed it, so when I saw this book was available I thought he would really enjoy it for his sixth birthday. I won't be with him for his birthday, but will be seeing him shortly afterwards, so I'm sure he will read this book to me. His outlook on bugs is quite different after he went to "Bug Camp". They do, do a lot of good in the environment.
