Q: What type of batteries does this toothbrush use?

submitted by Dog mom - 5 years ago
  • A: This toothbrush comes with a NiMH (Nickel-metal hydride) battery that shouldn't be changed and is charged through a charging station. For help with the battery give us a call at (800) 566-7252.

    submitted byOral-B - 5 years ago
    Brand expert
  • A: It comes with it's own battery. It charges by being plugged into an outlet, the toothbrush charges by being on the stand via wireless charger. Hope this helps!

    submitted byLovebug4 - 5 years ago
  • A: its a rechargeable device doesnt need batteries

    submitted bypmlc220394 - 8 months ago
  • A: I’ve had mine for 12 years and the same battery is still charging on the charger.

submitted byskjc - 4 years ago

Q: Does this toothbrush have a battery status warning light?

submitted by Les - 2 years ago
  • A: No, there is no warning light when the battery runs low.

    submitted byOral-B - 2 years ago
    Brand expert
  • A: Mine does have a light that flashes red when it starts to get low. Not sure what the “expert” is talking about lol

submitted byJax - 8 months ago
  • A: Yes, it will blink red.

submitted bytheconsciousconsumer - 8 months ago

Q: Do I leave it plugged in all the time?

submitted by Noni - 3 years ago
  • A: That would mean having to wait for 24 hours to recharge and use it again. I think I'll take my chancees and use it for a while, then place it on the charger again until it's recharged.

    submitted byjennywren1420 - 2 months ago
  • A: According to Oral B you may leave on charger but recommend at least every 6 months to fully discharge to prevent issues related to battery memory and extends the overall lifespan of the NiCad battery

    submitted byKat10 - 1 month ago
  • A: For maximum battery life, we recommend following this routine. (1) Fully charge the handle for the time recommended in the brush manual instructions. (2) Use the brush until it is completely discharged (or close to fully discharged). (3) Repeat. Do not store the brush on the charger after fully charging. We hope this helps you out! If you have more questions, please give us a call at 1-800-566-7252 from 9AM - 6PM EST Monday - Friday.

Q: I tried this toothbrush for the first time today and it is incredibly loud and aggressive! Is mine defective? I was using an old Oral B model before this one and it was so much quieter and gentler.

submitted by Tish82 - 5 years ago
  • A: My old Oral B toothbrush was quieter and gentler, too, but not as effective, I think (though I loved it and got excellent checkups). I guess that's the trade-off.

    submitted byjennywren1420 - 2 months ago
  • A: NYT Wirecutter tested the Oral B 1000 at 35 decibels and did state a little louder than 1500 that tested at 31 decibels

    submitted byKat10 - 1 month ago
  • A: You can expect your toothbrushes volume to be between 65-67 decibels while in use. We'd be happy to look into this further for you just call us at 800 566-7252 when you have time.

Q: Does it come with multiple tooth brushes so that more than one person can use it?

submitted by Kelly - 7 years ago
  • A: The brush is easy to remove, and you can buy extra brushes for the other people to use.

    submitted byjennywren1420 - 3 years ago
  • A: But you can switch out the brush head (removable) for each person.

    submitted byjennywren1420 - 3 years ago
  • A: The Pro 1000 only comes with one brush head.

    submitted byOral-B - 5 years ago
    Brand expert

Q: could it be used univerally? What's the plug voltage?

submitted by Nina - 8 years ago
  • A: No. The charger only works with 120 VAC (eg US). I tried to use one in Europe with a plug converter (not a transformer) and that broke it.

submitted byLex - 7 years ago
  • A: If you have a transformer that converters your electrical service to 120 volts, then you can use it.

    submitted byBob W - 8 years ago
  • A: Oral-B electric toothbrushes contain either a nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) battery or a lithium-ion (Li-Ion) battery. NiMH batteries have a nominal voltage of 1.2 V; the Li-Ion battery has a nominal voltage of 3.6 V. The Pro Crossaction 1000 Brush has a NiMH (Nickel-metal hydride) battery.

Q: Can you use this toothbrush in the shower?

submitted by Lindsey - 8 years ago
  • A: Yes, all Oral-B electric toothbrushes are waterproof, so it is fine to use them in the shower. However, we don’t recommend immersing your brush in water. We recommend making sure that you completely dry the handle after use and before charging.

    submitted byOral-B - 5 years ago
    Brand expert
  • A: I never tried it but I wash mine off under the running faucet every time I use mine. The case appears to be sealed so as long as the case isn't damaged you can.

    submitted byBob W - 8 years ago
  • A: Yes but its a monumental waste of water and energy to heat that water. Even worse than leaving the water running while brushing.

submitted byZika - 11 months ago

Q: I have mine a month now and it leaves a white residue when left standing in the bathroom cabinet. The toothpaste I use is green and I wipe the brush down before putting it in the cabinet. Any ideas?

submitted by Jim - 1 year ago
  • A: There is nothing in the toothbrush that will leave a residue, and making sure to clean it after every use is what we would recommend, Jim. Call us at (800) 566-7252 so we can look into this further.

  • A: Probably the scale in the water and residual water and toothpaste stuck in the nooks and crannies and under 5be brush head. I shake off and dry the entire wand with a towel after removing the head and do the same with the head and store it off the wand between brushing.

submitted byZika - 11 months ago

Q: Is it ADA approved?

submitted by Tgdolly - 1 year ago

Summary of reviews

The Oral-B Pro CrossAction 1000 electric toothbrush receives mixed feedback, with guests appreciating its effective cleaning power and plaque removal capabilities. However, concerns about its noise level, lack of a travel cap, and durability issues are noted. The strong motor and circular brush head are highlighted, but some guests find the toothbrush too aggressive for sensitive teeth and gums. The design changes, particularly the on/off button, have received criticism for being less user-friendly than previous models.

I previously had an electric oral B toothbrush for ~8 years that has the same brush heads and I purchased this so I could keep using them. However this is a major downgrade. The main issues are (1) the power button is flat/concave making it very difficult to push while keeping the toothbrush in your mouth. A previous model had a convex button so it was easy to feel and turn the brush off without needing to pull the brush out and risk splatter. (2) the battery indicator is only 1 light so you do not know how low the battery is or how charged. This makes it difficult to travel without a charger as you never know when you will need it. The previous model had multiple battery bar lights so it was clear how low battery was. The is is important as it seems like the brush runs weaker at low battery. Overall I would not recommend.

As a toothbrush it's great. I feel like it cleans well and is comfortable to use. The charging light is ridiculous though. It's so bright and flashes so much when charging. I can't sleep with my bathroom door open because it's so bright.

We're very sorry the flashing light on the brush is causing a distraction to your sleep, when charging. A lot of thought goes into the design of our products to create features that we think you'll love, and we appreciate your feedback about this. Your satisfaction is important to us, and we’d like to further help with your questions or concerns. Please give our Oral-B Team a call at 1-800-566-7252 from 9AM -- 6PM EST Monday–Friday.

The handle and on/off button smells like mold or mildew. I suspect that water and gunk probably run down through a tiny hold and sit inside the unit. The pressure sensor does not work. The unit does not hold charge for more than 3 days for regular brushing, and it takes more than 48 hours to fully charge the unit. I'll buy something else.
    1 reply from Oral-B team - 7 days ago
We never want to leave you feeling disappointed with your toothbrush, and appreciate you reaching out. Please know, there are many quality checks in place to ensure only the best products reach you. If the battery isn't lasting long, we recommend letting it completely discharge before placing it on the charger for 24 hours. While very rare, this can occur if the brush is stored in a location that is exposed to mold and bacteria, and the plastic comes into contact with ingredients of a corrosive nature (e.g. cleaning agents, sprays, cosmetics, soaps, etc.). Certain ingredients used in those types of products can make the plastic porous, allowing dirt and moisture to find places to settle. So we can help you further, please give us a call at (800) 566-7252.

I bought this to replace another Oral B electric toothbrush that finally died after many years of use. After only one month of use, the battery only charges enough to brush my teeth one time. I don't know if it's a bad battery or if the quality has gone done considerably since I last purchased one of these. I will be returning it and looking for a better quality product.

If I could give Oral-B electric toothbrushes zero stars, I would! We bought two brushes, and one of them stopped working within a month. We had to contact Oral-B for a refund, wait for a return label, and then send it back to them. I am still waiting on my refund, which has been a huge waste of time. Our other toothbrush stopped charging last night, so it lasted only 1.5 months. I contacted Oral-B again, and this is their response: "Our 60-day money-back guarantee is limited to one refund per name, household, or address. We can, however, assist with the process of sending the brush to one of our service centers to get it back in working order." So, we can't get a refund for our second toothbrush since their 60-day policy only allows for one return per address! This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard! Two toothbrushes stopped charging within 1.5 month! I will never purchase from Oral-B again! Also, read reviews carefully. Most received it for free in exchange for a review!

Great cleansing action; difficulty with modes

Last year I bought Oral B model 3791, Pro1000. Due to the descriptor I expected three different modes of cleansing. I have yet to know if I've changed any of the modes, despite my attempts to do so. I use whatever mode it is in - unsure if I've adjusted the original mode. It has a strong rotation and cleansing action. My plaque has diminished per my dental hygienist with my 2 min brushing, twice daily. I changed the brush head to the sensitive brush head which is more comfortable for my gums. I am in my 70s and do have receding gums. I am happy with the Oral B toothbrush's effectiveness, but disappointed that I can't adjust the modes more easily and with confidence I've done so.

I was using a manual toothbrush but my dentist recommended an electric toothbrush. She said that I didn't have to spend a lot of money on one. I took a look online and saw this one. My significant other has been using one for a couple of years. I liked the reviews so I purchased it. I've been using it for a couple of months and have no complaints. If I were to change one thing it would be turning off the vibration timer. I naturally brush my teeth longer than two minutes so having the toothbrush remind me how long to brush is unnecessary. It's well made. It made well. In fact, I dropped it on a tiled bathroom floor and it didn't break. That's something I didn't even consider when I was thinking of buying this toothbrush. My significant other also dropped hers and it didn't break either.
