Good for my 7 year old, but it was too small for my 10 year old. Good size. Doesn’t leak! You just need to make sure the hose is attached and tightened at the base! Good compartments for a sandwich and some snacks. Side pocket large enough for a large Gatorade bottle.
Perfect size for kids!

My 10 year old Girl Scout used this hydration pack during a weekend campout and it worked perfectly! It is just the right size for her and holds plenty of water without making the pack too heavy. It was easy to fill the bladder bag and load into the pack. The mouthpiece can be fitted either over the left or right shoulder. We didn't experience any leaking, but some moisture did seep through to her back due to condensation from the bladder. Overall, great for my little hiker though!
10 and under, my youngest is beyond that

I had received this in exchange for an honest review. However, this is sized for a child 10 and under, not man sized as my youngest child is per my profile. I was able to try this with a 3 yr old niece. It was able to be adjusted to fit her, but her working the bite feature for the mouthpiece/straw to work was difficult. I would suggest it for a child 6 and up.
Looks like a mini backpack. acts like a water bottle

The Outdoor Products Tadpole Hydration Pack is small in size just slightly smaller than an average handbag. I was still able to pour a 16.9 ounce water bottle into the reservoir (it holds 1.5 liters) and still have room for an iPhone, keys, eyeglasses, gloves and cereal bars. The hydration pack is accessed by a tube that runs across the top of the bag, raising or lowering the gray band opens and closes so that water can be dipped through the tube then sealed so that the water doesn’t leak and run down the bag and onto whoever is carrying or wearing the pack. The material that comprises the backpack is easy to clean just wipe with a wet cloth or use soap and water for a more thorough cleaning.
Doesn't quite quench the thirst for adventure.

This is a great way for my 7 yr old daughter to take water along on hikes and long walks. To be honest, it is an awkward size. While meant for smaller bodies, it doesn't really hold as much water as she would like, and while it is handy to have additional storage, because of the size limitations, you can't store anything of substance in it. All in all it is well put together, but doesn't quite do what we would like.
Great size and storage room!

I love the size of this pack! I thought it would be nice and lightweight- a good amount of water to be out and about in the woods for a while without being too heavy. I wanted a pack I would be able to carry easily without feeling the weight of it constantly on my back as we walk, and this works well for that. Even my four year old wants to carry it- it fits him well enough and he is glad to help. In spite of its small size- this pack has a lot of storage room for first aid/sunblock/ snacks/etc. and you can pack it pretty full even with the water reservoir being full. The design of this is nice- filling it wasn’t especially difficult nor was attaching it back in the special pocket for the bladder. I think overall this makes a great pack for grabbing and heading out for a day hike, it’s a nice convenient size to carry what you need!
Great active pack

My 5 year old wanted to try it out even before the tags were off. This fits great on her. She took it on a walk, and it was light enough not to bother her. The different pockets are also great. The mouthpiece is a little stiff but will probably get better over time.
Nice to have

If you like hiking, camping, or going to amusement parks- this is a must-have. This backpack is very compact but, at the same time, has plenty of space to store your items. The backpack has four pockets: a pocket for a water reservoir, a small pocket for things like keys, a second big zipped pocket for more oversized items, a medium/adjustable size open pocket, and a zipped smaller pocket for items like your cell phone. The water reservoir it comes with has a 1.5-liter capacity; however, the pocket is big enough to store up to 3 liters( you would have to purchase addtl water bags separately). The water reservoir is easy to refill and secure inside the back pocket of the backpack. The water valve has an open and close option, so the water doesn’t drip. One thing that I would improve is how the tube screws into the water reservoir. If you need to remove the tube, you would have to twist the entire tube vs. the valve on the bottom of the tube, but it is not a big deal at all. Overall, this backpack is perfect for outside trips, and I cannot wait to take it with me to my next hike.

The Outdoor Products 2.1" Tadpole Hydration Pack is really a great bag! I didn't realize this was a child's sized pack until I received it, but it is actually still big enough to fit some smaller adults too (the bag will just be small.) If you are in the market for a wonderful children's hydration pack, then this is it! The size is really perfect for kids! It fits my 8 year old just right and we love using it for our walks. It has many pockets that make storing items like snacks, cameras, phones, tablets, keys, and any other small to medium sized items a breeze! It also holds a good amount of water and is simple to fill. We haven't had any issues with leaks and I love that the mouth piece is removeable for easy cleaning or replacement if necessary.

Outdoor products have created a wonderful hydration pack for kids. This pack is BPA free, easy to clean and fits even teenagers. I love the fact there is a few zipper pockets to keep things in the backpack as well. We took the bag to the fair and it was wonderful because it lasted the whole time we were there and saved us some money as a small bottle of water there was costly. It is comfortable to wear and extremely light weight. Holds 50oz of water and is extremely easy to fill and put back in bag. We are going to buy another one for a gift.

This is a handy little backpack for kids to be able to carry their own water on a day hike. Enough room in the backpack to carry a poncho and maybe a few trail snacks as well. The water flow was a little slow but that's a minor complaint. Best for a younger child as it is pretty small.
Great day pack to keep hydrated while hiking!

My son is in Scouts, and needs a daypack for when he goes on hikes. The hydration option on this one was an added bonus! The pack itself has a surprisingly large amount of storage given the overall small size. It took me a little too long to realize the water bag pulls out, which makes it MUCH easier to fill! My only gripe is that the end of the "straw" is a bit tough to get water out of. I think that's by design so it doesn't drip, but my son had some difficulty getting enough water out to drink. I think he may just need more practice. All in all this is a great daypack, and he's going to get a ton of use out of it!
Tedious cleaning process

There are some pros and cons to this. First, it's the perfect size for my 6 year old daughter. We go hiking often and this is so much earlier than packing water bottles and we also can have her carry it herself. It has multiple little pockets for small things like snacks and money. The cons are the cleaning process is very teadious and if you follow the directions you have to do multiple leaning steps. As a busy mom I don't have time to do all of that. My daughter says the straps are uncomfortable and scratchy. She has sensitive skin but I'm sure it would be fine if she had a long sleeve shirt or jacket on. I'm honestly not sure how often we will use it based on the cleaning. I don't feel like the tubing would get very clean.

I needed a new hydration pack for my son and this one from Outdoor Products did not disappoint! It has everything needed to comfortably get through a lengthy trek. He even stayed hydrated without finishing the water in the reservoir on a very hot hike. The reservoir holds 50 ounces or about three water bottles worth of water. The pack has good storage compartments for other items like keys, phone, etc. There is a small zippered pocket at the very top which is suitable for a wallet or phone since it wouldn't be easy to access on the sly. The largest compartment is almost as deep as the entire pack, providing ample storage for items of a fairly good size - even a shirt could easily fit. The last pocket has a clip for keys and a mesh compartment which I like for snacks and lip chap. They only thing I would change on all this storage would be to add a second zipper to the last pocket. I think it would make it a lot easier to access the compartment with two zippers rather than having the hold the pack steady to unzip full-rainbow. There is also an open, non-zippered, compartment. If the pack's compartments each have items and the pack starts to get too bulky, the sides can be loosened to release some of the tension. The reservoir is very easy to clean, which I will (try to) remember to do after each use. My son managed to get a little dirt mark on the body but I wiped away all traces of the dirt mark using a damp sponge. It looks good as new. I highly recommend this hydration pack.
