A: Hi! The is a recessed handle on the side that you pull out which lifts the leg rest and reclines the back. To close, you simply need to push down on the leg rest with your legs.

DO NOT BUY!!! This item is OVER PRICED, for the quality the price should be no more than $400. I paid over $1,000 for this couch and the quality is terrible, it's very firm and uncomfortable, cheaply manufactured, unstable and the recliner was defective out of the box.

Only lasted one year before all the springs went through the seats. It’s now lumpy and uncomfortable. The only usable side now is the chaise. I love the idea of this but poorly executed.

Listen to the others and avoid at all costs. While it looks nice it broke on first use. There is a single bar that runs across the bottom of the sofa's recliner portion that is meant to provide stability. Unfortunately, it is made of cheap particle board and is held together with weak nails that break easily. Without the underlying support board the recliner armrest separates from the couch itself and renders the couch useless.

Love this ottoman and the storage but the recliner is very hard to open I have to stand and pull the button and then pull the recliner open by hand! It’s not a big deal because it’s for the playroom and the movie room hasn’t recliner s next door! Love it and it’s so comfy!

The sofa is nice looking and I bought it because it was the most affordable reclining sofa I had seen. The recliner is a joke, basically a tiny footrest pops up, I dont think the back reclines at all. The recliner broke the first time my husband sat down in it. The bottom of the sofa actually hit the floor. My husband is over 200 lbs, but I still think the sofa should be strong enough to hold an adult man. Excellent price, but in this case, Im afraid, you get what you pay for.
