A: Writes very cleanly and doesn't leave graphite residue so I would say smudge proof.

I've been using this lead to refill my Mechanical pencils sense 6th or 7th grade and this lead is amazing. I got 2 pack of this lead because the lead that comes in the pack of mechanical pencils does not have much lead in it it only comes with like 6 pieces of extra lead so I always get these to have lead to refill my Mechanical pencils.
