Q: What is the percentage of ferulic acid in it?
submitted by SM - 2 years ago
A: Pixi skincare is formulated with a blend of key & beneficial ingredients that work together in an optimal way. Although there may be an initial focus on an individual ingredient, that ingredient is part of a synergistic blend - so the focus is on the blend of ingredients as they together are what creates the results.

submitted by sinCOStan - 6 years ago
A: There is 15% Ascorbic Acid in the Vitamin C Serum.

I love how light this product is on my skin, I have seen improvement in my skin, I am not a fan of how expensive the product is but it’s still a good product.

love this serum as a starter. this is the first vitamin c serum i used and it was great. i didn’t love that after a few days in the bottle the serum would turn from clear to orange. i decided to switch for this reason, but it always made my skin look nice!

Okay I am just writing this review because companies should not be depending on the consumer to figure out how to preserve THEIR terrible product. I adored this serum when I first purchased, a nice light color and a pleasant fragrance, I always want a nice vitamin C serum to help fight off free radicals and pollution from the environment I live in. However if you know about Vitamin C formulation, you know most companies will put it in a DARK bottle so that sunlight will not pass through, as this will cause the vitamin c in the product to go bad, and render it useless. Another great BIG marker for when vitamin C (ascorbic acid) goes bad, is it gets darker. I would not put this on your skin either, as at that point it has been broken down chemically and would potentially be dangerous to put on the skin. Mine lasted me a week and a half before I saw it start darkening, and it was never in direct sunlight. However the packaging should be able to accommodate that regardless. $25 for a week’s worth of product is just complete joke, and the fact that when asking Pixi support about putting this product in the fridge, they say it’s not necessary! Complete waste of money for the average consumer. And putting in the fridge is probably your best bet if you really want the use this product. I surely won’t be repurchasing, as even looking at Pixi’s site, they don’t show any negative reviews of their products at ALL. Bad business practices I won’t be supporting. Back to the skincare hunt lol.

Horrible Smell

I love other pixi products so I was excited to try this one, but I could not get over the horrible smell... had to wash it off each time. Disappointing
Made my skin dark and dry - but that's just me

I have tried a Vitamin C serum in the past and it made my face dry and dark like I had jaundice or something. I thought I'd give this serum a try and it did the same thing. I have very pale sensitive skin so maybe that's problem. It may work for you though, so it's worth a try, and that's why I'm recommending it.
So disappointing!

I'm new to using Vitamin C serum and didn't know until after I had been using this for about 6 weeks that it was NOT supposed to have a strong citrus smell and be a dark a brownish red color--that means it's gone bad and totally worthless for your skin. I also just left a review on the Pixi website but except for 1 4 star rating all they have posted are 5 star--that's pretty suspicious when looking at all the low star reviews elsewhere...
Great serum , bottle malfunction.

Great pricing, but the product itself I has an overly powering scent to it. My skin does feel softer and I love the consistency. My only issue is the bottle; so a few times I’ve snagged my finger under the gold part of the lid and I’ve gotten pretty bad cuts from it, like literally snagged a good portion of flesh. Overall a great product but please change the sharp edge under the gd portion of the cap.

This made my skin look soo good! My skin look clear and soft after using this. You definitely need to put in the refrigerator as it will get darker and be less effective. It smells just like orange juice!
Love it!

Liked it at first and the price was good. After only a couple of weeks it changed color and it did not seem to have any effect on my skin any more. I stopped using after it changed colors because it looked as though it had gone bad.
Feels nice going on but not effective and oxidized quickly

I’ve been dealing with dark spots and this was the first vitamin c I thought of trying. I kept it in a cool cabinet in my bathroom so it wouldn’t oxidize as quickly. I had been using it 3 weeks with no visible difference to my skin. It felt nice going on but it didn’t make my skin any more even or brighter. Within the 4th week of using it, I noticed that it was turning a dark orange color. I don’t know the science behind it, but I do know that when a vitamin c starts to oxide, it can be way less affective or potentially harmful to the skin. Perhaps I need a stronger vitamin c to see the difference. P.S- this pixi vitamin c already comes in a yellowish color.

I'm very disappointed in this serum and will have to throw it away. I contacted Pixi and asked if it needs to be refrigerated, since it contains ascorbic acid, and they said no. So I didn't, because I wanted a vitamin c serum that I wouldn't have to keep in the fridge.
Well, this serum oxidized within a few weeks - turned that dark yellow/brown color which means it is no longer effective and potentially harmful to the skin. Ascorbic acid should be completely clear. This is likely what happened with the other negative reviewers on here too. I should've been suspicious and gone with a different serum that contains a stable vitamin c derivative, but I trusted pixi's instructions.
I love a lot of pixi products and would encourage them to work on improving this formula. It'd be great to have a cruelty free vitamin c serum that is both affordable, safe, and effective.

Overall, I give this serum a three star because though there are some things I like about it, I dont think I will ever buy it again. The things I like about this serum are I can truly tell this serum is protecting my skin from sun damage like the label says. It gives my skin this healthy, shining glow that lasts for even days after I use it. My skin burns less easily, and just feels healthier. Plus, it’s animal cruelty FREE.
These positives about the product unfortunately don’t cause me to overlook the things about this product I truly dislike: First off, I have very fair, freckled skin that loves to burn the moment I have been outside past 30 minutes. I am not blessed with the ability to tan; I burn and get more freckles. Therefore, I was looking for a serum that keeps my fair skin FAIR - this serum does not do that. After a couple days of using this product, I started to notice my neck, and hands, looking a gross, orange tint. I would develop copper rings around hats and necklines of shirts. It wasn’t until I stopped using the serum for awhile that I realized the serum was the problem! Even if I shook the serum to mix up the formula, the same copper color would appear. With my skin tone and hair colors, tan does not look good on me, so why would I want a serum that attempts (possibly by accident) to do that?
The second issue I have with this serum is is makes my face and neck feel EXTREMELY sticky the moment it is rubbed into my skin. This is an uncomfortable feeling, especially when I am getting ready for bed. I am very sensory conscious and therefore stop using the serum weeks on end because of how much I dislike that sticky feeling. The only reason I continue to use this serum (very sporadically) is because of its cost.
Like I said, there are good things about this product, and if you don’t mind that copper color it tends to develop, then this might be the product for you! But it’s definitely not the product for a fair complexioned girl like me.
Is it supposed to smell metallic?!
1 out of 5 stars
Jbrown - 6 years ago, Verified purchaser
I’ve only used it once. I haven’t noticed any difference. But whatever. I’m giving it a one star because it smells metallic. It smelled slightly metallic coming out of the bottle, and it’s just gotten worse the longer it’s been on my face. Why haven’t I washed it off yet? Because at this point I’m just curious to see just how long it’ll take for the stench to stop getting stronger.
