Catch, train, and battle with your Pokémon on a journey to try to become the Pokémon League Champion!
Welcome to the Sinnoh region! Rich in nature and with mighty Mount Coronet at its heart, Sinnoh is a land of many myths passed down through the ages. You’ll choose either Turtwig, Chimchar, or Piplup to be your first partner Pokémon and then set off on your journey to try to become the Champion of the Pokémon League. Along the way, you’ll run into the mysterious organization Team Galactic, and be able to encounter the Legendary Pokémon Dialga.
Explore the Grand Underground, connect with friends, and find rare Pokémon!
Use the Explorer Kit you’ll receive during your adventure to visit the Grand Underground! Here, dig up Pokémon Fossils and valuable treasure, including statues for your very own Secret Base. You can also visit places called Pokémon Hideaways, where you can find Pokémon that live in a variety of different environments—there are some Pokémon that can only be found in these Pokémon Hideaways. Embark on a Grand Underground adventure with other players through the local* or online communication** of your Nintendo Switch system!
Put on a performance with Pokémon in Super Contest Shows
Super Contest Shows are popular events in the Sinnoh region, each put on by four performers and their partner Pokémon, who work together to dance and show off their performance skills. You can prepare your Pokémon for your grand performance by giving them snacks, called Poffins, and teaching them impressive moves. Using Capsule Decoration, you can place Stickers to customize the effects that appear when your Pokémon comes out of its Poké BallTM for battles or Super Contest Shows. Choose a category like coolness, cuteness, or cleverness, and then tap along to the beat and put on a show!
Players can enjoy plenty of fun encounters and surprises that the Sinnoh region has to offer as they adventure together with the Pokémon that appeared in the Pokémon Diamond Version game. The original story and the scale of the Sinnoh region’s towns and routes have been faithfully reproduced. These remakes have also been revitalized with some of the player-friendly features of modern Pokémon games and up-close-and-personal Pokémon battle scenes.
Choose a Pokémon that you’ve befriended during your journey to walk along behind you in the games. In the relaxing Amity Square you can walk with up to 6 Pokémon! Depending on the Pokémon, you’ll see different gestures or ways of walking, and when you talk to your Pokémon, it will respond. You’ll also be able to add your own personal style! Choose a variety of in-game outfits and coordinate tops and bottoms. Some are based around Pokémon motifs and others change your hairstyle.
Unravel the plot of the mysterious Team Galactic as you work towards becoming the next Pokémon League Champion. Their leader is Cyrus, a charismatic figure who always speaks and acts with a calm, logical demeanor. He detests human minds and emotions, finding them defective. Find out what Team Galactic is up to and take down their leader.
Whether you played Pokémon Diamond Version or Pokémon Pearl Version back in the day or you’re encountering these games for the first time, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Pokemon Diamond, Platinum, and Sapphire were my entire childhood and when I got a switch, I just had to get this too. It’s honestly a big reason I got the switch. It’s just like I remember which is great. Also people seem to not recommend starting with turtwig but he’s my favorite so I always do. I one hit most pokemon with torterra so don’t let all those youtubers scare you away from him😂
Great, but Lacking Endgame Content and Felt Discounted

I will say that overall, this game is excellent with a great soundtrack, nostalgic memories, and overall good endgame content. I would recommend this to anyone who hasn't played the orginal (such as children), but also to anyone who wants to remember this generation of Pokemon game. I will say that some of those memories don't always age as well as I'd like, like the older style of random tile spawns, the trainer route gauntlets, and somewhat barren post game. Catching legendaries besides the easy ones are hard, and pointless honestly if you have scarlet, sword, or even legends arceus. In this game you have to grind rare minerals through rng to unlock legendaries one at a time post game. So yeah, it's tedious, and all the extra legendaries are available in the new games anyways. All in all the story is why I played this, and it was worth it to revisit those memories. I was somewhat torn on the graphics though, because they were chibi style in the overworld, which looked bad in my opinion. I personally felt no issues, but was annoyed since Heartgold was way better of a remake than this. This is more of a budget interim game that came out while Scarlet wasn't released. All in all I'd get it, but would place it below scarlet for sure. It'd be a good idea to buy it before the next console releases, and it goes out of print permanently.
Made me give up on the company

It is as if they took the originals, applied the battle animation of x and y, and then branded it “Brilliant Diamond”. If you are looking to go down memory lane and feel the nostalgia, this is for you. But don’t expect any updates. They literally released the same game with VERY minor changes. I wanted an ORAS style update to the originals as Diamond and Pearl were my favorite generation. But I would been better off just playing them on my DS than dropping $60 on what can be called a “money grab” by the company. How much of a copy of the originals you ask? Well let’s just say that they copied the code line by line to the extent that ALL of the bugs that were present in Diamond/Pearl are ALSO present in BD/SP. It’s just sad. This game literally has made me give up on Pokémon. They aren’t even trying anymore because they know customers will buy whatever they release.
Great game

My son hated this game. He played it for 20 minutes and was so disappointed, he cried. The graphics are circa 2000 and the game is a joke. Why is this the same price as pokemon shield? It was like they wrote the game 20 years ago and packaged it up now for sale. Not worth the money at all-total waste of money!!!! I am angry that this game is sold as a current game and has the graphics and restrictions of a 20 year old game. I get the nod to Pokémon Diamond original, but not if it looks as poor as the quality of this game is. You can do a nod to that game with updated and current graphics. Total disappointment! Do not buy this game!

It's so fun and cute! I was worried about the animation and gameplay because so many people complained but I found it to be great.

I purchased this after having a great time on Arceus and not such a good time on Shield. - this doesn't change any of it's original great experience (such as adding open areas like shield) - As close as it is to the original experience I kind of understand why they brought in the Chibi art style, but I feel like they could have gone in a different direction. Some cutscenes makes the characters look like they're expressionless legos with glued on facial features. - Having some fun because of the lack of continuous battles (other trainers and gym battles) that Arceus didn't have. - Really bought it just to heal my inner child because I remember having a hard time completing Fire Red. - some of the music is freaking amazing though.

It felt as though minimal effort was put into this game. I am disappointed with the storyline. Mostly, the “friend” that tags along beside the main character is petty and only pops up in random places. The ending of the game feels rushed. The whole thing feels rushed. Such a disappointment. I hope the next ones don’t involve the chibi style characters, they did not look right. I didn’t encounter any Pokémon worth catching, either…so sad.
