Description
The newest chapters in the Pokémon™ series, the Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet games, are coming to the Nintendo Switch™ system later this year. Catch, battle, and train Pokémon in the Paldea Region, a vast land filled with lakes, towering peaks, wastelands, small towns, and sprawling cities. There is no set path, so you can adventure freely through three grand stories. In one such story, you can challenge Pokémon Gyms in any order you desire as you aim for the Champion Rank! Explore a wide-open world at your own pace and traverse land, water, and air by riding on the form-shifting Legendary Pokémon Koraidon. Choose either Sprigatito, Fuecoco, or Quaxly, to be your first partner Pokémon before setting off on your journey through Paldea.
Encounter Pokémon that shine and glimmer thanks to the Terastal Phenomenon
Pokémon in the Paldea region have the ability to Terastallize to gain special power. When a Pokémon Terastallizes, a Tera Jewel appears above its head like a crown, and the Pokémon’s body glistens like a cut gemstone. Each Pokémon has a Tera Type that remains inactive until the Pokémon Terastallizes. For example, most Eevee will have a Normal Tera Type, but some other Eevee have a Flying Tera Type! When a Terastallized Pokémon uses a move that matches its Tera Type and at least one of its original types, the boost to that move’s power will be even greater! Terastallizing holds the key to victory or defeat in battles in the Paldea region.
Meet new people, new Pokémon, and a new you at the prestigious Naranja Academy
The Paldea Region is home to a prestigious school where people from all sorts of regions come to hone their skills against each other, be it through academics or Pokémon battles. The name of the school, its emblem, its uniforms, and other details will differ depending on whether you play Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet. Take classes with unique teachers who will show you what they know about battling, Pokémon biology, and more. Embark on an independent study called the Treasure Hunt to gain new experiences, meet new people, and find your very own treasure.
Receive a special Pikachu as an early-purchase bonus!
A special Pikachu will be gifted to early purchasers of either the Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game. This Pikachu has two unique characteristics:
1. It knows the move Fly, which it normally cannot learn.
2. Its Tera Type is Flying.
You can receive it by choosing Get via internet in the Mystery Gift* feature in your game, up until Tuesday, February 28, 2023. This special Pikachu can be received in either the physical or digital version of either game.

This game has the potential to be amazing with an engaging storyline but the lagging and glitches make it far less enjoyable. The open world twist on classic Pokémon is awesome, but the fact that a lot of glitches and lagging happen throughout gameplay make for an annoying experience. Not sure how two years later they haven’t created a patch for some of the gameplay issues.
Fun, fun, fun!!

This game is beyond S tier- it's magical, joyful, and has endless content. Similarities from Scarlet aside, I like how in this game you get to ride Miraidon, and his tummy turns into a neon motorcycle wheel that looks insane as you drive around. The soundtrack and story is amazing as well, and in my opinion the current pokemon community and fan base is not worthy to play it. So many berate occasional glitches, overlooking a funny and very anime sounding story at times! The dlc especially with Carmine is so funny, and worth the game for herz Terapagos, and all the new shiny Pokemon available. I have about 500 hrs on Scarlet, and 40 on Violet. There's so much I haven't even touched yet, like the school storylines with the teachers, getting ribbons for all my pokemon, etc. I personally like the professor in Scarlet a little better, but I do like the one here too. There are a ton of version exclusive paradox pokemon that are great here too. All in all, the best pokemon game imo.
Pretty good but not great

It’s no Pokémon Sword and Shield but it’s pretty good. It’s easier to catch Pokémon. But it can be hard to beat I’ve only beat it once I beat Sword/Shield like 13 times

It’s a fun game. I bought this to play with my kiddo since he has the Pokémon Scarlet version. There’s a few glitches that I’ve encountered, but what game doesn’t have those from time to time. I do like how you can explore the map, and how it’s different from the typical linear Pokémon games back in the day.
Love it!!!

Super fun! Has kept me occupied for hours on these long rainy days we’ve had! My kids enjoy playing it as well! Definitely recommend, although it is a little laggy and glitchy at times, the story and gameplay overlap that with great graphics and overall fun!

Save your money and skip Scarlet and Violer . I played this for almost 2hrs and I am upset I can never get my time back. For reference, I have played almost every Pokémon game (I usually pick one version release for the new ones like Violet over Scarlet, and then Shield over sword, etc). There is so much reading and watching unskippable cutscenes from the very beginning, and it's all text dialog! In the beginning you would get stuck with a 5 minute cutscene, then you walk down a road for less than a minute, and congrats on your new 7 minute cutscene. Realistically, I probably played for 10-15minutes during that 2hrs because of the cutscenes. This game was already almost a year old when I bought it yet I still encounters 2 glitches. *Spoiler starting*: When I had to walk to the professor with the 3 starter pokemon, Sprigatito got stuck behind the plants to the left and I couldn't get it to follow me at all. I had to restart the game, which fixed the glitch. Next, why am I meeting a legendary pokemon so early on and why does is transform into a bike?!?! I assume it's for the little kids who think toy cars/bikes are awesome but I did not like this. During the cutscene where you fight the houndoom with Miraidon my game glitched again, and I couldn't attack. It was just frozen- *spoiler ends*. I can't imagine how many other glitches there are. Now my child plays it and she definitely has more patience. When I see her play it's still cutscene after cutscene. If I wanted to watch a Pokémon movie I would just do that.

I’m My son seems to like it. However, I chose this off his list of wanted games for the sole reason of it being the only one on the list that was supposed to be multiplayer. The description specifically says multiplayer, 1-4 players, and online and local multiplayer. It is only multiplayer online with other users. I am disappointed that he and his sister, who also loves Pokémon, cannot play together when the Target app description gave me the impression that they would be able to do so.
Get it!

This game is glitchier and clunkier than all the previous Pokemon games. Sword & Shield are far better games - more dynamic, more engaging, and easier to play without the distracting glitches, clips, and issues. Don't buy this.

Extremely buggy, to the point where I have quit playing several times, usually after the game crashes (often). Many quality of life features have been removed. The frame rate regularly drops below 10fps. Characters clip through the environment more often than not. Unless you're paying for nintendo's online service there is no post game. Even if you do play online, I hope you like battling the same 15 pokemon over and over again because that is all there is to do. The main story is very cool and feels like a step in the right direction, but almost everything else feels like 2 steps backwards. I would recommend waiting on this game until game freak fixes all the bugs or some dlc comes out to give you something to do in post game.
A terrible effort, but fun.

The game is fun, but Nintendo knows they can have about 3 people program a Pokémon game and people will eat it up, bugs and all. It’s a terribly made game.
