This definitely has 4 speeds - low, med, high & very high. I'm so happy I tried this as 1 of 3 I bought to try. And it really has a LOW speed. Now to see how long it lasts & if beaters are stainless steel. I couldn't find that actual info.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Right out of the box, this looks like a quality product. It has a good weight to it but it's not too heavy to hold. It has clean lines and has an attractive silver and black body. It is easy to insert the beaters but be aware that they are not the same and you have to put them in their proper spot. The unit is powerful enough for mashed potatoes and cake mixes and has a boost button if you need some extra power.

So, I was very excited to see how quality and technology has changed for hand mixers in that time. This one has a basic color scheme, which to me is super simplistic and modern. The design is exactly what I expected it to be but is definitely made sturdier or more durable than I expected. The best way I can word it is that it does feel well made in your hand, without being flimsy or so lightweight that you start to question the quality. The attachments also have some nice weight to them and they snap into place with ease. I love that there are 5 speeds and you can choose which one will work for you, depending on the food you need to use it for. I haven't experienced any splattering and that is a huge bonus for me because I am not a fan of my mixtures flying all over my countertop. Next up, I want to touch on the power. To be a small, portable hand mixer, I feel like the power is awesome. Everything is mixed with ease and the attachments don't struggle to turn. My absolute favorite feature, however, is the sound/noise level. I had no idea hand mixers are this quiet now!! I thought maybe it was quiet because I was at a lower speed but when I pumped it all the way up, the noise level barely changed and I was shocked and happy that I could carry on a conversation with my kids or hear the tv while mixing!! Overall, I'm happy. I really do like the design, the quality, the usability, the quietness, the power, and the fact that it does exactly what I need it to do!!

It works great with different types of batters for cookies and cupcakes but I don’t think it would work on something heavy. Definitely a good starter mixer!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It did the job mixing just fine and has several speeds to choose from, however, the wire is in a strange position and not very flexible so you can’t set the mixer on the counter on its end. You either have to put it on its side or rest it in the side of the mixing bowl.

Believe me, this mixer does all of that and then some. After using it for the first time, I was so impressed with not only how well it mixed up the batter but also how well balance the hand mixer was that I could tip it and it would stand alone when turned off. Another great added feature is that with one push of the button and the beaters are released from the mixer and clean-up is a breeze not mention it is just a really pretty mixer. It sure "beats" dragging out my big, old stand mixer!!!

The boost feature is nice for quick extra boosts you have to hold the button down but it definitely gets the job done. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This new Proctor Silex 5 Speed Boost Hand Mixer has some good features, but isn’t too user friendly for those that have trouble with their hands. First of all, it works like it says it’s supposed to, so that is a plus. The boost works well, and it’s just for a short temporary boost. The button, however, has to be held down when using the boost, and that poses a problem for people with hand issues like arthritis or carpal tunnel. The button to turn the mixer on and to change speeds is kind of hard to move, because you have to mash it down to move it. For the average person this may be fine, but for older folks and for people that have hand issues, that is an issue. The mixer is heavier than expected, and the beaters are made better than expected. The beaters are not as fragile as my previous hand mixer. I do like the mixer, but my my elderly aunt that lives with me thought it was too much trouble for her to use. I gave it 3 out of 5 stars, because it is an average mixer. I’d recommend it to a someone that isn’t elderly or has trouble pushing buttons.

It’s not as heavy as other mixers I’ve tried in the past which makes it more comfortable to mix with. The only thing I wish it had was a case to keep the attachment, over time the box breaks down and it’s awkward to store without the box.

The beaters are the modern wire style, which are super simple to clean in comparison to the older style, but not as satisfying to lick cake batter off of. :p My only complaint is that the cord is a bit on the short side.
