They are already on their 3rd g generation of pellet grills. That should tell you something. I fell for Gen 2, and I am telling you to avoid the mistake I made. Even when you keep it clean, replace all the parts they tell you to replace, it is a headache. Steer clear and Weber, stay in your lane. Stick to gas and charcoal.

Nice product but complicated. Difficult to properly clean. Had problems with faulty components. Good for cooling for large crowd, but is overkill if cooking for 2-4 people on a weeknight.

Beautiful, well built machine, holds temperature like a champ and reaches a temp at a decent rate. The cooking space is fantastic as well but the app is terrible, constantly disconnects and asks to re-pair with phone. As far as the grill, make sure you have more than enough Weber branded pellets otherwise you are very prone to other pellet brands clogging and causing the flame to go out if you’re doing a longer cook. Additionally, the shutdown process takes quite awhile to finish. And finally, I wish there was more prep space included with the actual base grill. Understand there are additions available but for the price, I would have enjoyed an extra side table to prep from. Overall, I enjoy the grill but would probably look into something different if I had the choice.

Smokefire EX6 (2nd Gen)

I absolutely love my Weber Smokefire EX6 (2nd Gen) wood pellet smoker/grill! This versatile appliance has truly exceeded my expectations. I've put it through its paces, cooking everything from brisket to halibut, and it has delivered outstanding results every time. One of the features that I appreciate the most is the ability to turn it on and easily keep track of and control temperatures both on the unit and for what I am cooking. This has given me the confidence to experiment with different recipes and cooking techniques, knowing that the Smokefire EX6 will maintain the perfect temperature throughout the entire process. In terms of performance, I have encountered no issues whatsoever with this grill. It has consistently delivered mouthwatering results, and its durability gives me confidence that it will continue to do so for many more cookouts to come. Overall, I highly recommend the Weber Smokefire EX6 to anyone who is serious about their outdoor cooking. It's a reliable and versatile appliance that has truly enhanced my culinary experiences.

I have trouble with this grill 7 out of 10 uses. Typically I get flame outs due to poor feeding, I have replaced the glow plug igniter at least once. The worst was a feed motor failure in the middle of a Boston butt 18 hour cook. The grill itself is well built and looks like it will last many years. The feed system apparently was designed by a 1st year engineering student as it is a total failure. I guess that’s why they stoped making it. By the way my grill is just barely 1 year old and it gave trouble from day one.

Everytime I use this it shuts down. I wish I could rely on this because I like the concept. I use Weber Brand pellets and keep it clean but it doesn't help. Disappointed in the Weber Brand

I've had it for a few years and have had more problems than I care to deal with. Have to use weber pellets, randomly drops temperature and has to re ignite. Pit boss will be my next purchase.

So far so good, after making pulled pork, beef plate ribs, baby back, spare ribs, prime rib roast still determining best rack placement for meat and water trays. Hoods a little lose now but the rest of the grill is in great shape and working really well.

Too much hand holding needed. Worst Weber product ever. Constantly flames out, wifi bugs out, pellet shoot bogs down on full load of pellets and flames out. Now I find out after buying this hunk of steel Weber's decided to bail out and come up with Searwood on the backs of us poor suckers who bought the Smokefire! Give us a trade-in!

Assembly, burn-in and WiFi connections all went well. Following the instructions are good, only missing a few more details would’ve been helpful. First cook @200 went great. Second cook I decided to use the SuperSmoke option, but realized the user does not set the low temperature, it’s automatic @180. [1] No cold smoking on this unit as temperature doesn’t go to 160 as advertised. [2] Using SuperSmoke shortens lifespan of glow plug. I can’t afforded to use one glow plug per SuperSmoke session. After multiple ‘Flame-outs’ during cooks, I’m considering Opt.1 - Never use SuperSmoke or Opt. 2 - Sell and purchase a more reliable brand smoker.

I love weber but I had to send back after multiple problems and later found out that they are common (mostly fire not starting properly and timing out which is horrible when you have a lot of meat waiting and guest booked). After 4 smokes (started pellets with a small starter each time to make sure it worked), the motor went out. I had to return. They stood behind the product but what a hassle to assemble and then send back...

EX6 gen 1

I’ve had this grill since it was first released, my EX6 is OUTSTANDING! Although Weber sent me EVERYTHING that was known to be problematic, e.g. hopper slide, glow plug, auger motor etc. I am still on all original equipment from the motor to the glow plug. I’ve literally had no problems with this grill. In fact, four years later I’m so happy and I feel that if it were to stop working at this point I’ve definitely gotten my money’s worth out of it. I love this grill, it looks like the only updates this grill has seen is a light inside the smoker and an included sear grate. I have purchased the front folding shelf and a cover. My previous pellet grill rhymed with prayger so I’m familiar with the usual snafu’s that come up i.e. flameouts, pellets not sliding freely inside the hopper and that has helped in my expectations of any pellet grill. I also own a BGE XL a mini BGE a Weber Performer, a 22” premium kettle, a Weber Big Joe, a Smokie Joe, a Weber Q300 (for when charcoal grills aren’t allowed i.e. tailgates) and a 10’ Santa Maria bbq trailer. I am definitely at the level of grill master and I get down with each and every grill I own

Not the best

I have had this for over a year now and I am not impressed. I like the fact that is wifi and bluetooth, but from an overall performance standpoint, it is lacking. Multiple flame outs. Right side is far more hot than the left. I have to cook with a pan underneath the meat for long smokes, otherwise the rendered fat will fall down and catch fire over time. My most recent frustration with this smoker/grill is the discovery that the piece the glow plug is attached to is constructed with plastic pieces. Plastic does not like heat. The are where the plug attaches was completely melted. So when I went to pull out the glow plug, the entire unit fell apart, now I have to buy a replacement piece. For something that cost so much, you would expect there not to be plastic in a high heat area. I would definitely never recommend this product to anyone.
