My Schwinn Coston DX

Love the bike. Makes riding long distance easier and more enjoyable. Front brakes were not adjusted properly upon assembly and the seat is not made for long rides. I bought a padded one to cover the seat. Like the seat storage, but cant really hold much. Do you have touch paint available?

This is a great bike. It was pretty easy to put together and it looks great when complete. I have been trying to work on myself lately, and this bike has been really helpful to do just that. If I push myself too much and go a little further than I should and tire out I let the bike push thru while I can rest. Once rested enough I do the work myself. I like to use the bike to just joyride also. The weather has been perfect lately so I can go miles and miles on this bike and know that it is there for me to get home safely. It goes pretty fast considering it is a bike. A lot faster than I go if just peddling on my own. This bike really goes the distance.

Fun to Ride

Let me start off by saying that I hadn't ridden a bike in a LONG time so I'll be honest--I was interested in an e-bike because I was a little chicken and I liked the idea of having a little "help" if I got too tired or felt like I didn't have the necessary muscle power to handle a tough ride. Due to some medical issues I've lost a lot of muscle strength and I'm trying to work on rebuilding some muscle so taking up bike riding again sounded like a great idea and I was hoping that having a fun new bike to use would be a little bit of incentive to really put out a good effort. First of all, keep in mind that the bike will require some assembly. For someone who's very mechanical, this might be a simple task but it definitely took me a good amount of time. It was very helpful to watch the included tutorials from the Schwinn website, though, since I'm a "visual" person (I'm including a little screenshot of the video) and I would definitely recommend using the informational resources that Schwinn offers on their site. The bike is also slightly heavy so if you're on the smaller side, like myself, it doesn't hurt to have a friend helping you! It's pretty easy to use as well as easy to charge and I DO like having a little "help" now and then when I need it from the e-features that it has. It has enough manually operable speeds that I can usually handle a ride by myself but I like knowing that the option of a little pedaling assistance is there if I need it. I also find that it's a comfortable ride in general. The frame is sturdy and I also like the additional features like the headlight, which is seemingly a small thing but I really appreciate having it. Overall I'm definitely enjoying it and based on my experience with it I would recommend it. It's a fun ride and it's made me actually want to get out and enjoy biking again.

This hybrid electric bike is amazing! The color of the bike is perfect. The seat of the bike makes it so easy to ride for long periods of time. It’s easy to pedal manually. The digital screen to show you how far you went or the battery level is amazing. It’s super easy to charge and doesn’t take long. The battery also last for a long time. My husband rides this bike every day. Sometimes multiple times a day. My son also enjoys going for rides with dad. I highly recommend this bike!

This was my first opportunity to use an Electric Bike, so I didn’t know quite what to expect, though I have had other traditional Schwinn bicycles in the past and they’ve always been fun to ride and have held up well. Let me tell you, everyone in my family have been completely blown away by how well this bike functions, and we’ve had an absolute blast riding it through back country, yards, and city streets. We are very, very pleased with this thing, and now the question is, how long until we get another one? The bike comes mostly constructed, in a large box that also serves as a platform for some of the construction. I first tried to use the booklet that came with the bike for instruction, but there are a few mistakes (for instance it says to install the front tire before putting on the fender, which is possible, probably, but you’d certainly scuff the paint). After a few false starts, I went to the Schwinn website and watched the video on how to put everything together, and it was short, concise, and easy to follow. I highly recommend doing this, and save the printed materials for later. All in all, I was up and riding in a little less than an hour, though I’ll say neither my husband or I had ever attempted putting a bike together before. First we charged the battery…we used the key to uninstall it from the bike so we could do it indoors, but this isn’t necessary, as it can be plugged in right where it’s at. It only took a few minutes to get the hang of riding it…we were all surprised at how responsive the power kicks in when you just barely press the pedals. It defaults to power 1 or 5, but I generally stop it down to 0 to start out as our driveway is quite steep, and the turn onto the road very sharp (0 makes the bike function just like a normal bicycle). Again, we are a family (and friend group) of novices, so we don’t claim any expertise, but it is amazing how much fun we have on this bike, and how well it functions. The power is all we would ever need, and the battery lasts plenty long enough for an afternoon of riding around our neighborhood and city streets. There is a small screen with buttons to control the power level, and this too tracks speed, distance traveled, and other averages that keep your ride in perspective, or challenge you to break a record. The power kicks in when you pedal, and cuts off when you coast, or, if you want to ride in ultimate style and ease, there is a throttle that will do everything for you. This is great for when you want to ride to a meeting or appointment, and don’t want to get sweaty. Our son’s favorite feature are the lights, particularly the long thin one on the battery. It really does look cool, and there are head and tail lights as well (the headlight being very bright, but can be adjusted downward so as not to blind your fellow riders). These are all optional of course, you’ve only to hold down on the top button of the control screen for them to cycle on and off. The brakes and gear shifters work smoothly, though the brakes had to be adjusted for tightness and noise (they squeaked a bit when we first tested them). The handles are comfortable, and the tires thick and able to handle versatile terrains. The seat can be opened for storage, which is great for a phone or wallet. There are mixed feelings amongst us regarding the comfort of the seat itself…we all love that is is shock absorbing, and it bounces with bumps and divots, but while I find it to be pleasant, my husband thinks it a bit uncomfortable after a long ride. Fair enough, he has ridden much further than I have, and even he concedes that for short to moderate joy rides the seat is perfectly fine. Also, there is a kickstand, something a lot of bike designers don’t think is necessary to my utter amazement. So, so glad it’s there, thank you Schwinn! The bike looks beautiful, and the green color is rich and metallic. There weren’t any scuffs or blemishes on the frame, and everything is holding up admirably. I anticipate having a great time on this bike for a long time, if my previous experience with Schwinn is any indication. Obviously we are big fans, and recommend without hesitation. We are definitely planning to pick up another in the near future hopefully!

Excellent e-bike that rides easy

What a wonderful e-bike. If you have to assemble it, it comes complete for the most part. All you have to assemble is attaching handlebar, seat, and front tire. The directions are generic and show different types of bike parts for different bike types so you have to sort through which one matches your bike, and some parts were left off such as the front headlight but a quick search online answered the question. Brakes will also need adjusted even though they are assembled. Once it is road ready, the bike rides smooth, shift smooth, and kicks into e-bike mode easily. The bike does ride without the e-bike turned on, so you can choose to ride manually and turn on electronic function when you want. Once in electric mode the bike accelrates quick and really gets moving. You do have to pedal for the bike to move even electronically which is nice so the bike doesnt just ride off when you arent prepared. Very fun to ride and can be a great option for outings on the trail or cruising through a city.

I got this Schwinn electric bike to go on long bike rides with my son and to exercise. I’m 6’3” and got a 27.5” bike and it fits perfectly. It has storage under the seat along with a rear fender rack. The right side by the hand grip is where you switch gears, there are seven and on the left side is where the electric gears are, there are five and I’ve had the bike up to 20 MPH. It also has a digital display to show speed and distance. I can peddle till I’m tired and the then just use the electric back home. This bike would be perfect for in the cities.

Feeling like a kid again!

What a great bike to make me feel like a kid again! The bike is very strong and durable. I'm surprised that the max rider weight is only 245 because it feel as if it could handle much more. I have the S/M bike and am 5'10" tall. I will say that, to me, this bike is very tall. My feet do not touch the ground when sitting on the seat. I've done some research and found out that many people prefer their bikes to be this way due to exertion on the knees, visibility, etc. This bike is great just as a standard bike... but add in the pedal assist and throttle and you open the door for fantastic adventures! The brakes on the bike are easy to use and have a smooth stop. The bike comes with three keys to keep the battery safe and secure. You can charge the bike by removing the battery or leaving the battery in place. The gears are very easy to change and change smoothly. The bike has been driven on roadway, gravel, grass, and hills. All surfaces provide a smooth ride. As expected, the speed does drop when riding on grass, etc. The handling of the bike on all surfaces, even gravel, was very smooth without issue. Today, we took the bike up some small steep hills and had no issue whatsoever. The screen is easy to read with large numbers. The lights are easy to operate by holding in the button for 3 seconds depending on which option you wish to use. These lights are absolutely amazing. Very visible. The headlight is comparable to a car headlight and I can see so much in front of me.. but also can be visible to cars passing by. Assembly & Packaging: I recommend having two people present when taking the bike out of the box. It is a bit heavy for one person. (could be done.. but two recommended). The bike was packaged so greatly to prevent any scratches or damage in shipping. **Watching the assembly videos was a lifesaver! There's not a lot to do when putting the bike together, but we did refer to the videos to ensure everything was done accurately.

My husband was ecstatic to ride this bike for several reasons. It's the perfect height and weight and it's a beautiful bike! You HAVE to read about it and get familiar with it because you can get hurt if you don't know how to use an electric bike! He got a little nervous on the first ride when he felt a boost as he was going uphill, and he said he hadn't figured out why it didn't slow down when he pressed on the brakes. Assembling it took the 2 of us because of how heavy it is... but its not complicated. One of the light reflectors was broken when we opened the box, one of the screws went right through it. It would be nice to have anything glass be packaged better to avoid it. There was glass all inside the box and the instructions. There was some damage on the box itself so I expected some knicks and dents which is unfortunate but nothing major. If you love riding bikes and not necessarily for the exercise, this bike is amazing and easier to pedal. Getting on your vehicle will be a little challenging because of the weight!

This electric bike from Schwinn is the coolest thing ever! Assembly is super easy, just make sure you have someone with you to assist you since it's a little heavy. Followed the steps, one by one and built it no problems whatsoever. Super easy breezy ride, sturdy material for sure, just charge it the bight before and you're good to go. Not complicated at all once you get the hang of it.
