I did a 14:1 with 35g ground at 15 on my Encore with my Ratio 4. A wonderful cup, with a deep complex body. Definite dark chocolate. This will be a regular for me!
Thanks

The coffee is fine, but buying 12 oz bags at high prices is a non-starter. I would consider re-purchasing if it becomes available in 2 - 5 lb bags at suitably reduced bulk pricing and free shipping.

This is a tried and true favorite. It was my first bag of coffee beans I ever tried. I bought a few other brands and blends of beans when I ran out of these (greedily just to see if there was anything better - there’s not!), but I always come back to the 46 blend. It is full and round, smooth and bold, and so delicious without being overwhelming. It is literally perfect. It is my go-to bag for making lattes.
Honestly, I'm kind of disappointed

I was promised a dark, rich, smoky experience, but what I was given was a kind of no man's land between light and dark where nothing really stood out. The bean itself is on the lighter end of dark, really closer to a medium roast. There are no oils like you'd expect with a real darker roast. It has a balanced flavor profile, which isn't bad, it's just not what the advertising promised or what I was looking for when I bought these beans.

Love all the coffee from Counter Culture! The beans are super fresh, great tasting and work magnificently in my Jura grinder. Forty six and gradient are our favorites.
Love it with my moka pot!

Oct batch still very good in Jan. The 46 is more a med-dark roast. Maybe need to try their 47 or 45 haha.

I’m a tea drinker, never cared much for coffee. But my sister is a fan of coffee and “forty-six” was a big hit with her and her husband. I was thanked many time for the gift of coffee! ❤️🤙🏽

Wonderful and smooth blend! Using for espresso. Mild and mixes well with milk based drinks or just as a simple shot of espresso

I use Forty-Six exclusively to make my cold brew at home. I use a ratio of 10c per 12oz and steep for 21 hours. The flavor profile matches the the description provided by Counter Culture. Chocolate and cherry dominate and not bitter at all. I use Wegmans bottled water and a tablespoon of vanilla extract also. Oatley Oat milk as the creamer. I am basing this review on my particular process. There is a local coffee shop that also uses Forty-Six and the results are very similar. Counter Culture's selection of beans has resulted in a very consistent flavor profile. Bottom line, I love this product for cold brew!

Fantastic bean. Great chocolately, roasty flavor. Good body to it. Decent as a loner shot of espresso, but really excels in a milk drink. It has a sweet dark chocolate aspect to it that I really enjoy in milk. I typically do a little bit more of a lungo shot, as the milk is going to cancel out the bitterness anyways. Now to other reviewers: no, this is not a traditionally dark italian bean. If you're looking for oily beans you need to look elsewhere. For many, an oily bean is not ideal for our nice grinders and involves a lot more frequent cleaning or issues arise. This bean gets you a pretty dark roast without any oil.
Counter Culture spoiled me.

Slowly going through a bag I bought a month ago at my local grocery store that carries CCC. So glad I took a chance on this specialty dark roast. Hands down the best I've tried. I'm from CA. We have a lot of local roasters. CCC blends have consistently been my favorite. The balance in 46 is unmatched by other specialty dark roasts. I like the low acidity, subtle sweetness. I say it's full bodied for specialty coffee. No offensive after tastes like some commercial dark roasts. I also like that CCC is offered in grocery stores. I don't think that's a bad reflection on the coffee, but a reflection of accessibility. If I want fresh roasted I know I can just order. However, if I want excellent coffee and my store has a deal I will take it. Yes, I also have ordered and happily paid full price for other CCC coffees I've tried. Just want to be transparent about where I got the bag of 46. The freshness of the beans has really held up! My favorite preparation is in the French press. It's also good in a drip coffee maker. My husband is also a fan, which says a lot because he actually doesn't mind drink gas station coffee. Would recommend for anyone that wants a "medium" roast if you're used to commercial dark roasts.
