It’s easy to use—just pour in water, turn it on, and it makes a full cup of ice in about 5 minutes. I let it run until it’s done and then store the ice in the freezer. To prevent clumping, I shake out any excess water before freezing. The noise level is minimal, softer than a fridge ice maker, and doesn’t bother me at all. Great find!

I’ve only had this for a few days and used it to make ice for the first time. It was pretty quiet, just like the random noise a fridge makes when it’s making ice or cooling. The ice isn’t quite like Chick-fil-A or Sonic ice, but it’s soft and chewable. I was really impressed by how quickly it started making ice, though it did take about 2 hours to fill the ice bucket. Since it doesn’t keep the ice cold, it starts to melt and keeps making more ice. I transferred the ice into a Tupperware and stored it in my deep freezer, then turned it off. The ice was still chewable the next day!

If left in the basket, the ice will melt and keep the compressor running on and off constantly. We’ve started making ice throughout the day and storing it in the freezer. Then at night, we turn it off so it doesn’t keep us awake.
