They occur in grape juice and wines when potassium and tartaric acid — both natural by-products of grapes — bind together to form a crystal. We take a number of steps to minimize tartrates, including decanting our grape juice prior to bottling. We also use glass detection equipment to scan every empty bottle and a micron filter screen for all juice just prior to bottling. I do hope this alleviates your concern.
